 |  Excellent Psychiatrist for anyone dealing with ADD/ADHD  |  show details
Nov 10th, 2012

I was diagnosed with ADD as a 23yr-old college student struggling to finish the remaining ~30% of my degree, and Dr. Ott was one of the names that came highly recommended for attention-related disorders in young adults.Of the 4 different Psychiatrists I've seen in the 8 years I've been managing my ADD, I would rate Dr. Ott among the highest. He worked with me to find the best course of treatment, and was extremely knowledgeable and willing to offer suggestions and answer any questions I had.The only drawback is that he may not have any space for new patients; as I was lucky enough to take a recent opening when I started seeing him.As a former patient, (I no longer live in the Los Angeles Area) I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a Psychiatrist to work with in the management of ADD or ADHD.

 |  This doctor is ego-driven.  |  show details
Jul 17th, 2012

Dr. Ott doesn't trust parents, lies to parents, and makes false assumptions. Dr. Ott is condescending when speaking with parents, and blames them for all problems. His shallow, biased view focuses all blame on poor parenting skills. His ego gets in the way of his ability to accurately treat patients. He talks in half-sentences, which does nothing to help the patient or patient's parents understand his treatment. His reputation far exceeds the reality of how he practices psychopharmacology.

 |  not welcoming and only after one thing.  |  show details

I have been to This Dr, many times and every single time i have had to wait VERY LONG. Not only that, he once had me come in to pick up a prescription, when i arrived i waited 3 HOURS and he didn't show up. The front desk called me a liar about having an email sent to me from the Dr about coming in for an appointment, i had the emails forwarded to the front desk and they apologized. The Dr, continued to say it was my fault and he didn't even have the power to apologize. and take blame. He proceeded to blame me even though he was obviously at fault. Each appointment seemed VERY, VERY rushed, and he even halted on answering some of my questions with the response "im a very busy person and cant get to those now, if you make another appointment we can talk" he doesn't care about his patients, he cares for MAYBE one aspect of them, MONEY.

I live next door to one of Dr. Ott's patients. This boys parents took him to Dr. Ott in hope that he could help stimulate the boys brain pathways as he had brain damage from a car accident. Instead the boy has been placed on drug after drug and for the last three years has lived life like a zombie. Pacing in his yard, yelling at and fighting phantoms, suffers seizures, and is incapable of the most basic of daily life functions.

Dr. Ott specializes in kids and adolescents with ADHD, and is also very knowledable about autistic spectrum disorders.
