Board certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Erasmus is medical director of the Taylor McAdam Bell Neuroscience Institute's Minimally Invasive Spine Program.

Dr. Erasmus has been a member of the Washington Hospital medical staff since 1979 when he established his medical practice in Fremont, California. Well respected in the community, he is a long-standing member of numerous professional organizations, including: the American Medical Association (AMA), California Medical Association (CMA), Alameda-Contra Costa County Medical Association (ACCMA), California Association of Neurological Surgeons (CANS), San Francisco Neurological Society (SFNS) and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPIO).

Dr. Erasmus obtained his medical school training at Christian Medical College in India. He then moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he completed additional training, including: an internship at Deaconess Hospital, general surgery training at St. Luke's Hospital and St. Vincent Charity …Hospital and his neurology residency and neurosurgical training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

At 73 I had never considered that I would have surgery. This surgery was so successful that here I am 6 weeks after the procedure feeling 100% better. Dr. Erasmus is truly a top notch surgeon. His guidance through the entire process was flawless not to mention his expertise. The stenosis was corrected and a titanium clip installed to correct vertebra alignment. As a result I am standing straighter, taller and walking with real assurance for the first time in a long time. I was overwhelmed with the technology in the operating room at Washington Hospital. It was like looking into the future. I selected home nurse care and that worked very well. The nurse came twice a week for two weeks and provided valuable training. That is over and I am in my second week of PT. It also is proving to improve my overall health. Dr. Erasmus has my highest recommendation.

Misdiagnosed a cervical spine issue as elbow arthritis. Wasted months of inappropriate therapy before proper diagnosis from another physician. Did not listen to my problems and was pompous in asserting his "correct" diagnosis. Refused to refer, as well.

I have a great experience seeing Dr. Desmond Erasmus, my husband was suffering for a lower back pain to the point that he used to be paralyzed at times, after the first visits to Dr. Erasmus he assured my husband that after the surgery he will be with no pain , that was nothing but the truth. It has being years since he was operated, and he is working and feeling grteat. Thank you Dr. Erasmus.

I was in the hospital with a gun shoot to the head from a drive by shooter. They called him in and he was so nice to me and made me feel everything was going to be alright. He did the surgery. I was 25 then I am 47 now. I should not have made but his work was amazing. I have him to think for that and I do everyday

He is the Best Doctor i have ever seen,Thank God he is here to help us out.He scheduled a surgery in time before he is leaving out of town at the short notice.You will feel that you are in Safe hands once you visit this doctor.
