Dr. Donald Edward Rosen, MD

I believe he told me to call 911 in an emergency as his parting words.

My experience with Dr. Donald E Rosen was one I'd like to forget. We met a total of 3 times, and I was charged almost $2,000. I did arrive 16 minutes late for our initial appointment (to which I was charged $260 despite his leaving the office just as I arrived). And then we had miscommunication for the next appointment that I thought was to be at 8:30AM but in fact was scheduled for 8AM, so once again that meant being charged $390 this time and not utilizing any of the allotted time left. He was able to book me the following day, which was our first meeting. He's a smart man, amiable, and was extremely good at building my trust in a rapid amount of time (regardless, I am completely honest with any therapist I see, else what would be the point?) I was seeing him for a substance abuse disorder, based on the recommendation of my Uncle on the East Coast. I was not told that he was not an addiction specialist, and therefore seemed to completely freak him out with my honest accounting of my… use. So much so that he decided the best course of action after our second session together was to email my father and tell him how concerned he was for my wellbeing (I don't know what else was communicated). This is extremely inappropriate, especially considering my father lives in California while I'm in Portland, OR. It was a breach of our legally binding confidentiality agreement. And for our third and final meeting the whole session was spent with Dr. Rosen manipulating me to sign a ROI for him to communicate legally with my parents and my Uncle. I finally agreed to sign as he promised to share with me whatever he was to share with them, and had no idea that seconds after I put pen to paper he'd be ending our session early and informing me that he could was not capable of helping me and would no longer be seeing me. In total, I was charged over $1,700 and finally received the invoice many weeks after requesting it. It did not in any way solve the mystery of why he'd charged so much money. The damage that his communication with my family had was severe and continues to this day. He still refuses to tell me what he told them, despite making that promise. I was hoping to get a diagnosis, what I got was my trust in this man taken advantage of for the benefit of my Uncle it appears. What's so frustrating is that I'm honest with my family about my struggles, so the whole charade was a complete waste.

I had both a psychiatrist and a psychologist recommend Dr Rosen and am so happy they did. He's prompt, amazing to talk to, really listens, and is the best psychiatrist I could have asked for. He's really tailored my meds to me and has done a better job than outside providers I've seen that have tried to mess with them. Very happy I found him. Note: I've never had a problem with billing. His billing person has always been on top of it and quick to return my calls when I've had questions.

I've had trouble with billing from the beginning. It has always been wrong and I had to recalculate the numbers and deductibles. I won't pay bills that are wrong and off by hundreds of dollars. I also had a couple missed appointments from miscommunication and/or getting the date/times mixed up. I understand needing to charge a missed appointment fee at ~$225 an appointment is extremely steep. I know there are losses when patients don't show, but fees like this make you want to never come back. If I could, I would give Dr. Rosen 4/5 stars, and whoever he uses for billing 0/5 stars.
