I have severe hypertrophic scarring on my face. I went to Dr. Rose to see if he could do a scar revision. He was amazing. He carefully evaluated my scars and then gently explained that there were not any surgical options at this time but their were new treatment options in dermatology that he thought would be helpful. He called his colleague, a dermatologist, while I was in the office, explained my case and got me an appointment that same afternoon! It would have been easy for him to send me on my way with a card or number to call but he went above and beyond to help connect me with the right treatment team! Thanks to Dr. Rose I have started my treatment and my scars are improving.. He is kind, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable about his field. I cant recommend him highly enough!
Dr. Rose did a tendon implant, facial sling, eyelid surgery and botox on the right side of my daughter's face (she had never recovered fully from Bells Palsy). The outcomes for her eyes were amazing --- this was the area I felt was the most noticeable and even though another doctor had tried to correct it previously, this was a much better result. We like the tendon in the face as it makes it more equal in size to the left side (once the swelling went down and following facial massage) ... still not sold 100% on the sling part but it is better than it was before when she smiles --- the part that bothers her is that it isn't spontaneous or controlled so even when she isn't smiling on the right, the left is still slightly positioned in a smile --- we didn't realize that this would happen but in general, it's not very noticeable and when she smiles, it's much better.
My experience with Dr. Rose and his immediate medical assistant was exceptional. Direct contact was always prompt, courteous, and pleasant; Correspondence was always immediate and informative. Dr. Rose is an expert in his field. He is one who is exceptionally skilled and gifted in what he does. He, and his assistant are very gracious and kind. I would recommend Dr. Rose without reservation.
Dr. Rose and his staff are extremely professional. He is top notch and a exceptionally skilled surgeon willing to take on challenges many Doctors are not prepared to address. My personal experience was a case a Bells Palsy, which left me with facial paralysis. Specifically sagging watery eye, inability to smile (except like a pirate), communication challenges and partial obstruction of nose causing breathing difficulties. Dr. Roseâs performed the procedure to provide support, called the fascia lata sling. I am 2 months, with great results and in the midst of physical therapy to build up my facial muscle strength. Dr. Rose was upfront, honest and always available, even if on vacation. I would highly recommend Dr. Rose with total confidence.
First of all, Dr. Rose is the real deal. He is a top notch reconstructive plastic surgeon. He responded promptly to me at all times, spoke to me on the phone, etc⦠I felt that Dr. Rose was very easy to talk to and felt he always listened to my concerns, etc⦠His nurse Nancy is such a pleasant person, helpful and caring. Linda handles a lot of the financial items and can be a little rough around the edges, but for me she was always professional and helpful. I am a 43 year old Male and was diagnosed with Bellâs Palsy about 4 years ago. I never suspected that I would not fully recover. However, I was not one of the lucky ones. After more than a year, it was better, but I still had significant facial paralysis on my left side. My ability to smile was gone. My research led me to Dr. Rose as he was one of the few doctors that even performed Facial Reanimation Surgery. From the first moment I spoke to him on the phone, I felt some sense of relief that there was someone that could help me. After meeting with him in NYC, I knew he was the surgeon for me. I needed to get a âgap exceptionâ with my Insurance company, UHC. That took some time, but I followed all of the instructions and took the necessary steps and about 8 months later, the surgery was approved to be paid by UHC. When the gap exception letter came in the mail, I was very excited, but scared to death. My biggest fear was that after the surgery the results would be something that made me regret the whole thing. After all, the surgery was extensive and there were no promises. However, I trusted in God and trusted in the skill of Dr. Rose. He was upfront before I began this journey that he couldnât get me back to where I was before the Bellâs Palsy, but he could get me close â which he did. I had a total of 4 surgeries. 1st major one, where he performed the major reconstruction (tendon & muscle transfers, etcâ¦) 2nd one, to tighten the sling, etc.. then 2 very minor lip revisions that were performed in the surgical room in his office. It is now a few years later -- I was 39 when diagnosed and 43 today - and I do not regret anything. I am so happy with my results. I feel the surgeries were a huge success. My left eye no longer constantly waters (fortunately, I was always able to close my eye, but he brought up my lower eye lid just enough that it prevent the constant watering â but not enough that it is really noticeable). I can breathe through my left nostril. He placed a small piece of tendon from my leg, and used it to open up my nostril. I had thought about not doing that procedure as I wanted to keep scars down to a minimum and the nostril did not bother me much. However, I am so glad I trusted Dr. Roseâs recommendation. I can breathe normally, and no scars, incision areas are even noticeable to me. My bottom lip no longer curls in, and looks great. The therapy involved was very intense, and took much longer than I expected. However, the therapy was critical. I can now actually smile and not feel so self-conscience. During this process, we adopted a baby girl and it means the world to me that I am able to smile with her. Friends that knew me before the Bells can notice that I still have some minor residuals affects from the Bellâs, but most people that were not aware are quite surprised when I tell them everything I have gone through. . Due to the nature of the surgery there was also a âface liftâ element that was done. I was not aware of that until after my first consultation with Dr. Rose. I was a bit nervous that the scars would be noticeable or I would appear to be âdoneâ. That is not the case at all, I look amazing. It took several years off of my face, and it is very natural looking. Being a man, that was very important to me. I was even at another plastic surgeons office for a non-related item and when I told him about the surgeries he did a double take â he had no idea. My jaw line looks like it did when I was in my twenties. Scars hidden or not noticeable. Nice bonus for all the stuff I have gone through. Dr. Rose is a true master at his craft. I have no regrets and feel that my surgery was a huge success. I highly recommend Dr. Rose.
I had given up hope, Dr. Rose made me feel good about myself again!
I have seen Dr. Rose twice for reconstruction of both sides of the tip of my nose after having MOHs surgery to remove basal and squamous cell skin cancer. Dr. Rose helped me with my first diagnosis six years ago. He clearly and patiently explained the flap surgical technique he would use to repair my nose after the cancerous area was removed. And more important his calm and caring demeanor helped ease my fears. The first time the cancer removal was more extensive than it appeared from the surface yet my face healed wonderfully. This year another cancerous area presented on the opposite side of the nose and, although I no longer live in New York, I never hesitated in calling Dr. Rose again. As before, he and his staff were compassionate and professional. His office and facilities are comfortable and private. The surgery this time was intricate and involved repairing the lining of the nose, using a cartilage graft to reshape the nostril, and flap surgery to repair the skin. Once again the results have been fantastic. I highly recommend Dr. Rose to anyone dealing with skin cancer on their face.
I came to Dr. Rose for a consultation regarding a facial scar I had from a dog attack. I had been toying with the idea of scar revision surgery for years as the scar always bothered me. It was cloaked right near my mouth on the left side of my face. Although my friends and family always told me it wasn't that bad and that it healed well since the attack, it always bothered me. It was the only thing I saw when I looked in the mirror. Plus, being a teacher means that I'm always around children. Their ability to be honest in the most innocent of ways always ermines me that the scar was there and that it stood out. Nonetheless, I was afraid and unsure about going through with a revision surgery. When I met Dr Rose, I immediately felt that I was in the presence of a true artist and professional. His ability to explain the procedure to me and to ease my fears and reservations amazed me. At the same time, Dr Rose listened to my concerns and understood exactly what results I was looking for. He was honest and forthcoming with what I could expect after the surgery and, even when I wanted to return for re-imaging because I was not 100% satisfied with the first batch, Dr Rose was accommodating and completely understanding. It has now been one week since the procedure and I have already been to the office two times for follow ups. So far, I am very pleased with the results of my scar revision procedure, the attention and care that I am receiving from everyone at the office and especially the caring professionalism and precision of work of Dr. Elliot Rose.
Dr. Rose is very intelligent and is an exceptionally fine doctor. He is thoughtful, experienced and skillful. In addition to being an excellent doctor and scientist, Dr. Rose is artistic. His assistants, Linda Ossias and Nancy Slifer (alphabetical order) are excellent.
Dr. Rose is excellent in any area of plastic surgery you can think of. I mean not only does he do the standard cosmetic stuff but his reconstructive surgery is world recognized. The staff is very courteous and the office is beautiful. I was very happy there.
Dr. Elliot Rose is not only a top-notch plastic surgeon with amazing skill, but he is also a very professional, kind, easy-going and trustworty doctor who truly cares for his patients. I recommend Dr. Rose 100%!I feel that I know Dr. Rose fairly well since he performed 5 technically complicated facial reanimation surgeries over a 2 year period on my toddler who had congential facial paralysis. With respect to the outcome, I am very pleased and am so thankful to Dr. Rose for giving my child a smile. The results are miraculous! My child's face was completely transformed and now she has a gorgeous typical symmetrical smile! He is one of a handful of suregeons worldwide that can even perform such complicated surgeries so it's great to have him here in NYC.With respect to Dr. Rose's bedside manner, I would say that he genuinely cares about his patients and treated my daughter as if she were his own. Dr. Rose is also very thorough and is generous with his time. He definitely will take the time to explain any questions and will not rush you out the door. While the office staff is extremely welcoming, professional, sweet, and efficient, please beware of the billing coordinator, who from my dealings is very rude and unprofessional.
My posting was the first one made on this site. Since then I have gone back to visit Dr. Rose. His staff has made significant improvements. I was not able to schedule a surgery because of my lack of funding however I plan to visit him in the near future. I strongly agree with the recent postings we are very fortunate to have such brilliant talent and skill available to the public. I have visited many surgeons for cheaper costs but none even remotely compare... To say Dr. Rose does phenomenial work with his pioneering techniques is an understatement!
I am a 40 year old facial paralysis patient of Dr. Rose. I had an onset of Ramsey Hunt Syndrome and ended up with right facial paralysis months before my 40th birthday. After trying to create symmetry by using botox with doctors here in Pittsburgh, and being thoroughly frustrated with the roller coaster of looking good while the botox is working, or not working, or in-between, I came upon Dr. Rose on the internet. I was at my wits end dealing with my off kilter look while still trying to work full time, be a mom of two and handle the frustration of my facial flaws and constraints, and was by then seeking psychiatric counseling. After much research and talking to my doctors here and having a consult visit with Dr. Rose, speaking to some of his patients, I was all in. Dr. Rose is one of a small handful of doctors in the world that can perform this type of extensive reconstruction surgery and perform it to its utmost perfection. Many surgeons and doctors ask how I was lucky enough to get to Dr. Rose, and I tell them my stars must have been aligned perfectly that day : Upon my original meeting with Dr. Rose, he never promised me that he could make me look exactly as I did before, but he would get me as close as possible with all his professionalism, experience and expertise, I knew I didnt have to worry. I have never met a more passionate, caring and fully committed to his patients surgeon than Dr. Rose. I am 6 surgeries in and now have no more dry eye, can close my eye with ease, I can breath freely out of the right side of my nose and my symmetrical smile was here for Christmas this year, and I was smiling whole season long. This surgical transformation has been the most life changing thing for someone with this type of paralysis. He brought me back my life and confidence to literally face the world. I dont have to hide my smile behind my hand anymore, I am confident that it is looking great. His staff took over with all my insurance approvals and pre-certifications, just leaving me to wait for that great phone call that everything was approved and ready to go. The operating staff and nurses have all treated me like family and have always answered me personally weather via email or phone calls. Dr. Rose himself was my first contact as he called me personally to find out my whole story. If I had it to do all over again, even with all the facial therapy, facial retraining and exercise, I would do it all over, it has change my life, my outlook, my physical appearance, and my relationship with my family and friends. Dr. Rose gave me my normal life back, and I dont think I can every say enough thank yous to convey my gratefulness.
Dr. Elliott Rose is extremely artistic, intelligent, kind and caring. His talent is so remarkable and rare that I feel that anyone who goes to Dr. Rose is truly fortunate. He is a treasure. Dr. Rose's office staff is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Dr. Rose and his staff are a pleasure to work with. The office itself is very clean and attractive. You feel as though you are in a spa.
I had a potentially serious issue in regard to a breast reconstruction from over 16 years ago. I had had chemo, bone marrow transplatation and radiation following cancer surgery in 1993. 4 weeks ago, Dr. Rose diagnosed (when other doctors could not understand what was going on) and treated hematomas under my left implant. He not only solved a potentially dangerous issue, but left me with much better and more comfortable implants. He carefully went through my history at the hospital, even taking the time to go into the archives to read about my initial surgeries so long ago. He carefully went over with all the doctors involved my personal history and my allergies to most antibiotics (a result of the transplant). I have had a lot of dealings with doctors over the years. He and his staff are incredibly caring and competent. He is one of the best!!!!
I went to Dr. Rose 22 years after having facial paralysis from Bell's Palsey. He performed reanimation surgery on me in March, 2009. I am EXTREMELY pleased with the outcome. After my initial meeting with the doctor, I walked away with a feeling of hope. The surgery has resulted in a normal appearance of my facial features. My smile now goes up instead of down, my eye sockets are the same size, and my eyebrow doesn't droop over my eye, so I'm not constantly lifting up the brow. I am now in front of the camera instead of behind it, I'm not reluctant to speak in front of groups or strangers, I laugh and smile with family, friends, and in public without regard to how I look, knowing that it's more "normal" than it's been in the last 22 years, and practically like it was before the palsey. The surgery, recovery/healing, therapy, and refinement surgery were difficult, but managable and necessary to get the wonderful results I've experienced. I'm very pleased with the results and I'm pleased with the personal attention Dr. Rose and his staff gives to me, the patient. He says you'll get results that you think are too good to be true, but you DO get those results.
Facial Nerve Paralysis is an emotionally debilitating disease that robs a person of their ability to interact with the world. The emotional despair expereienced can only be understood by a person who looks in the mirror and does not know who he is looking at. Life had blessed me with the privelage of being a surgeon and a musician. Before I lost my face, second only to my family. Being a surgeon was what I identified with and was my most cherrished asset. When I lost my face I thought I lost everything. Suddenly my face could not express who I was or how I felt. My pain and despair influenced every aspect of my life. When I came to find out that I would never recover I was devistated.I searched the country for the right doctor who could offer me all of the necessary skills and experience available for optimal results. Moreover, finding the right surgeon who was committed heart and soul to doing the surgery that was best for me.After eleven consultations I found Dr. Elliott Rose. Despite overwhelming advise from almost everyone in my life and everyone I met. I knew he was my doctor. He never guaranteed any results. He offered me a surgery that only two other people in the country could even perform with any experience. As a surgeon I knew the surgery was an incredible undertaking for any surgeon. I was scared. However, as a surgeon I knew that this guy was going to do what it takes to get it done. I knew that if something would go wrong that he would be by my side because he loves what he does. More importantly, he believes that his job is to change lives and make people feel better about themselves.I am three months post the third stage of a very complicated facial reanimation surgery. It was not easy for either of us. The first surgery was over ten hours of intricate work. I am now a year and a half out from the first stage. It has been a long and hard road. Dr. Rose and I have been working hard to get the best result that we can get. I know that I will never be completely normal. My confidence is coming back. My patients know I love what I do because they can see it in my face again. My children do not think my face is angry anymore. I can express the joy the bring to my life. I can sing and play my guitar and harmonica again.I could not have done this without his dedication. My pain and despair is in the back ground of my life. I work hard at my physical therapy and I am getting better every day. Thank you Elliott for helping me get better. I have my life back.
My daughter Lina is a burn-survivor that no other doctor gave hope to. He is a compassionate, loving, incredible professional who takes a personal interest in his patients. We are forever thankful to him for giving her a new face, a new outlook on life, and a future. To date, we have flown to NY for surgery 11 times, knowing our financial situation he has done pro-bono, or reduced rates to allow us to complete his plans for Lina. He is the best.
I have been seeing Dr. Elliott Rose for a problem resulting from Bell;s palsy. I had an asymmetrical smile. Dr. Rose did his "magic". I had two surgeries which gave me back my smile and I was able to close my eye once again. Thank you so much Dr. Rose. You gave me back my life.
Rose is a salesman . Using computers and books he has authored , he creates a scenario that is at best unlikely . Do not be fooled by his techniques and his "assurances" .
This defamatory comment was obviously posted by a competitor. Our state of the art Mirror Imaging software is used to educate patients to their clinical condition and "preview"the anticipated outcomes of their corrective surgery. My book, Aesthetic Facial Restoration, published in several languages, is considered a premier textbook in the field and is used by residents in training as a teaching tool for reconstructive facial surgery. I was in a fire accident when I was a child. I had burn scars on the right side of my face, arm and leg. We went to him four years after the accident. He did a tissue expansion procedure - it was to take 5 surgeries to remove the scars. He did not wait for me to heal after the 2nd surgery to start the 3rd. I woke up in the hospital not able to move my right hand. There were "complications" - I spent years in physical therapy after that. My scars are still noticeable and I also have a healthy fear of surgery to go with it - all thanks to Dr. Rose.
In the era of "freedom of speech," anonymous consumers can publish whatever they like with impunity. However, I do not recognize the clinical history of this patient nor have I received any legal inquiries regarding the alleged post surgical injury. This posting is inconsistent with other positive patient comments regarding their facial reconstructive surgery and quality of care. I welcome this "anonymous" patient to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to vent his/her grievances so I can respond accordingly. Dr Elliott Rose
I was in a car accident in 1987 and since then I have not seen dramatic improvements to my face since I visited Dr. Rose a couple of years ago. He is very very expensive. Yet, he knows a lot more than the average plastic surgeon I have met. Additionally, his staff is very rude and aggressive as it is New York. Overall, I would do it again.
