Dr. Jeffrey Walter Degen, MD

Discriminates new patients based on the type of insurance they have even tho they are in network. Office was taking my info and read to make an appointment and when they asked the insurance I had, then all of a sudden they didn't accept new patients. This is federally illegal.

Garnett medical ER referred us to Dr. Degen for follow up. My husband's reports and tests were sent to him. I begged for an appointment, my husband could not walk. I was told the best they could do was nine days away with a Physician's Assistant. I offered to go to any of his offices. When I finally got my husband in with a spine surgeon elsewhere he said surgery had to be immediate or his legs could be permanently paralyzed. Condition was Cauda Equina. Surgery done that day and my husband may still never have function of his right leg. I feel the apathy of Dr. Degen was appalling.

Never again !

Dr. Degen and his staff are very personable. He explained my procedure in a straight forward manner, to which was understood. He has an easy going personality and makes you feel at ease. I highly recommend him. If I needed any more surgery I wouldn't hesitant to seeing him again.

Dr. Degen is the absolute best. First off his office staff pays attention to detail and really works with you to get you in quickly. Once at the office we were greeted by the doctor himself after a short wait! He explained everything in detail and listened to all questions my husband had. In addition, the surgery that he performed was MUCH less invasive then our first opinion. They wanted to have my husband wear a surgical collar for 3 weeks and they also wanted to take bone from his hip bone instead of using a cadaver. That last part takes weeks to heal! Before and after surgery the doctor made sure to see me as I was waiting in the waiting room. He first allowed me to ask any question I had, and then updated me on my husbandâ??s progress. Almost immediately after surgery my husband felt feelings in his fingers again and NO PAIN except for a bit from the surgical site. But no cervical neck pain. A month later my husband is doing great and the PT staff (at a separate facility) are… thrilled at how well he is coming along! If he worked a desk job he would be back to work already. The office staff continues to help me with the billing and everything is easy and stress free even though he wasnâ??t in network.

I think doctor degen is a great doctor and does a wonderful job explaining your diagnosis and all the treatment options. For me it was a long road to surgery scine the doctor recommended other less invasive iptions to see if they would help to avoid needing surgery. When the time came to have the operation he was wobderful reassuring and put all my anxieties at ease. I didnt get the results i was expecting from the operation but he lwt me know ahead of time not eveyone reponds to aurgwry the same way. I am still dealing with the same problems i was before the operation but i think he is a great doctor. The hopital room i stayed in at Good Samaritan hospital was pretty diety but that didnt have anything to do with him. Dr degens staff are very friendly and always return calls.

I had severe pain for months and saw several doctors. There seemed to be no end in sight. I was referred to Dr. Degen who immediately knew what was wrong and how to fix it. Although I was petrified to have surgery, Dr. Degen's very confident, intelligent and calm demeanor relaxed me some. He also explained things more thoroughly than anyone else had. I had my surgery and woke up pain free. Its been 3 weeks and I'm still pain free. Would recommend anyone needing a surgical consult see Dr. Degen. You won't find a better doctor!

My experience with Dr. Degen was the best possibly imagined for me. The thoughts of needing Spinal surgery petrified me. I saw 2 Neurosurgeons prior to seeing Dr.Degen. The moment I met him I knew I was in the right place. His calm,confident proffesional mannerism put me at ease immediately. I accepted the treatment advised. I needed cervical spine surgery. Prir to surgery I was in excruciating pain for months with increased paralysis. When I awoke from surgery I literally felt like a new person ! I was totally pain-free for the first time in years.It has been 2 years since and I thank God for him every day ! He gave me my life back.

Another spine surgeon said I needed a fusion. Dr. Degen prescribed therapy and I am completely better without surgery. Everyone should see him for an opinion before having surgery!

I can't begin to explain how grateful I am to Dr. Degen!! It has been 2 days since laminectomy/discectomy surgery and the excrutiating oaun that I have dealt with for the last 4 months is completely gone!!! I highly recommend Dr. Degen!! Thank you soooo much!!!
