Dr. John Willis Marcus, MD

I saw Dr. Marcus throughout my pregnancy last year. He seemed a bit odd, but, he was recommended to me by a friend, and I liked having one doctor in the office that I would see consistently. Around 20 weeks, I started to feel more uncomfortable with some of the medical guidance he was giving me, but, I continued to see him. I had said repeatedly through my third trimester that I didn't want to do any cervical checks unless it was necessary during active labor. At 36 weeks, I went in for a Group B strep test, and without asking or even telling me, he checked my cervix. This was highly inappropriate, and even if he had forgotten that I didn't want to do one, if he were practicing informed consent, he would have discussed it with me before hand. I didn't have the nerve to say anything. I felt violated, and at 36 weeks pregnant, changed doctors immediately. The oddest part was that they never called me to check on me or the baby. They had no issue with me completely disappearing at 36… weeks pregnant!

I have been going to Dr. Marcus for 20 years. He and his staff are wonderful , professional , caring and honest. He treats me and my family with nothing but respect not to mention how wonderful he was when delivering my children. Highly recommend!!!

If you are out of the child bearing years, stay away. When you go for your general exam, the amount offset questions are unbelievable. Actually it was uncalled for and made me feel so uncomfortable. I went over the questions with my prior OBGYN doctor, as he moved out of state and I had to get a new OBGYN. My previous doctor was so taken back by his sex questions. Totally inappropriate from a women my age and it was the worst experience. All I can say is stay away from Dr. Marcus!!

I had a C-section which supposedly went well but he never showed up during my 3 days stay at the hospital.After 12 hours I was at home in such a severe abdominal pain that I could not move my legs then called the ambulance. Later at hospital a surgeon, an infectious disease doctor, another obstetrician, 2 neurologists came to protect him while I was in insane amount of pain laying in bed handicapped for 24 hours already. They determined I had a Hematoma (I was 100% healthy before C-Section).What I went through was a nightmare, very painful, not just physically but emotionally too.

Do not trust this doctor and staff. Kind can only take you so far. Very disconnected and often do not even know which patient you are or what your history with them is. It is very dangerous when health complications arise. If you are looking for a thorough doctor whose health and safety you can trust in their hands, go elsewhere.

Unnecessary C-Section, plus left a staple in me after.

A true professional and a brilliant doctor who will do his best to comply with delivery wishes while ensuring the safety of baby and mom. Terrific bedside manners and the friendliest and most efficient staff. Bedside manners come with positive thinking with a touch of humor, because no matter what situation you're in, Dr. Marcus will make you feel safe and comfortable under his care. I for one wished on a holistic delivery, but after 72 hours, he jumped into action to save me and my baby. He is truly brilliant, the best, most caring and funny Dr. I've ever met!
