Dr. John Mario Mesa, MD

I had a tummy tuck and a “Brazilian but lift” 3 years ago . Only now , after I almost died at Long Island Jewish Hospital because of serious complications from the disastrous incompetence of Dr Mesa, I am able to share my nightmare that resulted in a serious PTSD to my life, enormous scars and trauma. He pulled my skin so so much to make a flat stomach that my skin was not able to hold together. I had severe necrosis, septicemia , almost DEAD! The doctors at the hospital LJH were horrified by what they were dealing with . They tried to talk to dr Mesa on the phone and they ended up having a huge argument on the phone . Dr Mesa never went to check on me at the LLJH . I have traumatic pictures of his work . He changed my life forever.

I had buccal fat removal done by Dr. Mesa. Before deciding on doing this procedure I confirmed with him that the area of fat and sagging skin near my mouth would be removed. He assured me that it would. Instead he made the area under my cheekbones thin to the bone with hollow spots and left the area near my mouth UNTREATED, which made that area look even worse than before. He would not acknowledge that more fat needed to be removed and just kept promoting voluma. I now have to get regular voluma injections and collagen treatments for the rest of my life just to look somewhat normal. The end result was a very unnatural look that made me look years older. Also before doing the surgery I told him I wanted buccal fat removal to make my face leaner and more natural instead of using fillers. He makes my face so unnatural that I am now have no choice but to use fillers. He said he only removes the full buccal fat pad for models!! And the rest of us should leave looking worse than when we… came?

If you want very fake looking boobs, this guy seems to knows how to do it. Otherwise skip it. Skip it for replacement surgery too because I think he only knows how to talk to people who don't have real questions. My consult started with club music in the lobby, followed by google image searches (by the doctor) of Niki Minage to show what people usually want, then ended with a price about 80% over the general price range I was given on the phone. Oh and to top it off, he overlaps appts so it took over 2 hours while I waited. And he prefers to talk through your question and concerns with a picture of yourself taken by the assistant rather than actually looking at the real thing. Very odd, huge waste of time and money.

Dr Mesa was very professional and took his time to make this process comfortable. This is my second tuck in three years. I was not happy with my first procedure and am so happy i found Dr. Mesa. I am a mother of three and like every mom I wanted a flat stomach. Dr Mesa was able to give me that, he removed all the excess fat above my belly button that the first doctor did not. He went through the same incision and gave me a beautiful new belly button. and also took his time during the surgery. He made me feel so calm right before the surgery as well. I have recommended him to all my friends.

I would highly recommend Dr. John Mesa. I was scheduled to have surgery with him and then he changed offices. I still decided to go with him anyway because he was very professional and made me feel everything will be fine. It is one week since he did my facial surgery and I am so pleased I decided to stay with him. He did a wonderful job. He is a true gentleman and has great bedside manner. My family loves him too!! I am a good judge of character and this doctor rubbed me the wrong way. I am a patient of another doctor whose practice he was working in. He abruptly left that office and tried to take all of that doctor's patients with him, including me in his email. He is a snake. I have friends who have gone to him who told me he has inappropriately hit on them and made remarks that could be viewed as sexual harassment. He also did a horrible job on my injections and I feel like my face looks worse than before. I only hope that it goes back to normal soon. Just don't go to him. TRUST ME.
