Dr. Jose Alvaro Martel, MD

This is a doctor that respects his patients and answers questions so the patient understands. I have seen other EP doctors but this one is different.. 5/stars

Been to many doctors over my life. He lights up a room when he comes in. Makes you feel like the most important person on the planet. I am a former teacher of 30 years so I can spot intelligence when I see it, an he is really intelligent. Every person in the hospital where I had a pacemaker put in and at the other hospital where I had an ablation performed said that he is the doctor that they would choose should they need these kind of service. And they said it without being asked. Janelis, his assistant, called me four days in a row to see if I still had a 100 degree fever. And they made an appoint with an ENT specialist for me when I had hoarseness after being inturbated. What doctor's office would do that? You will not find better. Period.

This doctor is super intelligent but very quiet. His office personnel are a disaster. The assistant who did my stress test (which btw they don't measure your oxygen!) Told me that that doctor did put a pacemaker in him wrongly, that he almost died because it came off and it zapped him in the office while he was working! I felt like he was trying to scare me, he sure did a great job with that! Second, the woman called Yanelis was super nice in the beginning and then it all changed when I started to ask for "non protocol" testing and what not. She told me rudely that I wasn't going to manipulate the doctor to do whatever I felt like doing, that everyone has to go through the protocol. I am a person, and I have different needs, all she had to do was ask the doctor and then get back to me! Not tell me that I wasnt going to manipulate dr martel. On another note, I have to wait a month to get my results back since they don't give them by the phone and the doctor is onlu there once a… week. A month, to know weather or not if its safe for me to exercise! REDICULOUS

Excellent physician. Very happy my cardiologist referred me to him. I had an arrhythmia all my life. Dr. Martel diagnosed and cured me. Now I live without racing heartbeats.

My experience with Dr Martel has been great, takes time to explain, extensive exams and diagnostic tests.I highly recommend this doctor.

Does not approach patient as a whole, Uses test in a illogical manner. Does not have experience with younger patients. Orders test that are not supported by clinical findings, orders numerous tests at times which can be detrimental to patient/diagnosis. Does not explain his rational/ avoids saying finding until he can run another test.
