Dr. Laura Ruth West, MD

This doctor was impatient, unprofessional, completely invalidating, and over stepped neglectfully removing active prescriptions from other department doctors without my knowledge or consent. Talked over me for much of the appointment. I even had to tell her to please be patient with me as it feels like I am having to prove my symptoms to her. During her intake questions she was very short and talked over my answers with her own response. She kept invalidating my answers and in a very unkind way. For example, she asked if I had ocd? I said yes. She asked what kind. I told her that I body check a lot. She quickly cut me off and said that’s not ocd. Unfortunately her tone through me off that I didn’t go into other symptoms. She prescribed medication but failed to inform me that she removed all other prescriptions from my file. This included prescriptions outside of her department like active dermatologist and primary care doctor’s prescriptions. These required referrals and in-person… visits. Depending on your insurance some are specialty care and cost more out of pocket.

This doctor doesn't suggest or recommend anything, she tells you what you can and can't do. She even went as far as to cancel a prescription from my General doctor, because she didn't like it. I would never reccomend

Most horrible experience. She completely invalidates your feelings. If she asks a question, and it not the answer she wants, she interrupts and makes her own Conclusions regardless of what you are trying to say. I walked out of her office emotionally violated by her. Just because she has 20+years experience does not justify her behavior.. Worst bed side manner. She has NO INTEREST in what you have to say.. so why say anything at all. I was trying to share I was having a side affect re:my vision from medication prescribed, and she blatantly told me it was not a side effect when it clearly states in the paperwork that it is.. My vision was fine before, but seriously changed in the last few weeks since taking medication. She just wants to get you in and out.... I left that office in tears, feeling bullied, belittled and with more anxiety then I had experienced inmonths

I had been seeing Dr West for a couple of years and she seemed to be ok. I found psychiatrists seem to just want to diagnose and prescribe you medication. Well, I was diagnosed with major depression and put on medication. I had been doing much better for awhile so all of our follow up visits were fairly quick and easy as I wasn't really having any issues. However, the last (and final) time that I went to see her I was not doing well at all. My depression was getting really bad again and I was having major anxiety which I had not experienced previously so I was nearly in tears the second I entered her office. Well, the tears definitely came out the longer I sat with her as she was so cold, dismissive and uncompassionate. The first time that I actually was having some real problems she couldn't even be bothered to take the time to listen and be compassionate with me at all seeing the state I was in. It was awful! She kept cutting me off and was super short and dismissive. She… just wanted to change my prescription and get me out of there. She said she was an hour behind on her appts and didn't have time to meet with me for longer ( I was only in there for maybe 10 if that). I walked out of the office completely in tears and needless to say never went back!
