Dr. Lee Weiss, MD

Absolutely beyond amazing. Straight and to the point. Great advice. Very smart.

After much research I chose Dr. Weiss after moving to Setauket. Her medical background is impressive (NYU and NY Presbyterian) She is extremely smart and quickly provided direct (and effective) answers to my questions. Intelligence is most important when selecting someone to oversee your health. It does not matter that she is somewhat short when answering questions. Her answers are complete and are coming from someone who knows her stuff! I agree that you can feel rushed sometimes but, most importantly, I feel that my health is in good hands.

My daughter saw Dr Weiss for the first time today and came home crying. Her medical concerns were ignored and she felt riduculed. She told me she was nasty and blew off her concerns. I will be finding her a new gynocologist in another practice. She made my daughter feel terrible about herself and that is disgusting.

I personally get the energy that Dr. Lee Weiss went through something or just does not enjoy the job she does, throughout my pregnancy i felt happiest seeing the Nurse instead of the Doctor, when she saw me at the hospital she did not congratulate me she just wanted to do what she had to do and go. She honestly seems like she hates her job or is going through something, you rarely see her smile and she just wants to get over with the appointment and when she answers any of the questions you have she seems annoyed answering them.

I met two Drs Weiss: One is short, rude, and bolts out the door before you even get a chance to ask a question. The other Dr. Weiss will answer your questions, smile, and even crack a joke if the nurses and the medical transcriptionist are in the room. She performed a biopsy and when I went in for the follow up, she acted like we talked during the procedure and she reassured me that all will be fine. She never said a word, did the procedure and left the room. We did not exchange more than 5 words. Patients have questions. Sometimes idiotic and redundant, sometimes well-founded. The doctor should be a professional in all situations. I really want to believe that Dr. Weiss chose this profession for the joy it brings and not just for the $$$$. She still has time to rebuild her reputation and TRY (I know it can be hard) to communicate with the patients.

The bad review below is 100% accurate and I probably can’t articulate the accuracy of how the beside manner spoiled once I became pregnant without becoming upset again. Although she doesn’t look on the internet for answers like the other doctors in the practice dr Weiss will not make you feel safe and comfortable during your pregnancy. She became extremely short and rude, lacking care and empathy during my entire pregnancy. I was disappointed and discouraged over and over again by dr. Weiss and her attitude when I asked simple questions. You should not feel unhappy when visiting your Obgyn during the happiest times of your life. You can find a better doctor. Dr Lee Weiss you need to do better for your patients. When I delivered you should have been a human being and said hi when you saw me after my delivery. Not just be the horrible person you are ignoring me because you were unhappy with with my choice to make the best decisions for my body and my children. Shame on you after being my… doctor for so many years.

Honestly in reading the other two reviews - I feel confused as if we do not have the same doctor. She is smart and knows her field, but she rushes, explains nothing, constantly breezes over my questions, and rushes out of the room before I can even take a breath. She makes comments about my anxiety and will not give me answers to my questions - instead she insisted on scheduling another appointment or meeting with a specialist. I regret tolerating her and now I am so far along I feel stuck. I distrust her and feel so alone. This is my first baby and I know nothing. We chose Stony Brook because it is supposed to be the best. I feel like it is a factory and this doctor is just here for a paycheck. We keep filling out the surveys they send after appointments. I have even discussed my feelings with other patients and the staff there. I am afraid to talk to her. This is not how anyone should feel with their doctor.

Incredibly bright, thorough, assertative, and easy to talk to. She's so smart and clear in thought that it is impressive! Grateful she is my OB! Highly recommend!

Dr Weiss is an amazing physician and spends all the time you need to make you feel comfortable. She makes appropriate referrals and explains why she does everything. She has excellent bedside manner and is extremely knowledgeable. I had several other obgyn in the practice and this time around will only see Dr Weiss.
