Extremely pleased with Dr Layland’s attentiveness to detail. I definitely felt like all my concerns were met appropriately

I have had a problem with my left ear for years and Dr. Layland has not been able to correct it. He put first one tube in my left ear and now there is still the second one he placed in there. Dr. Layland places you in pain and refuses to take credit for it.

Mike Layland MD saved my life. No need to say more. If you have an ENT issue, go see him. HE IS THE GUY! Should be rated 7 stars if not more, instead of 3.2. Thanks Dr. Mike, Bob G. Niles, IL.

I went in 2 weeks ago because I had a clogged ear for 2 months and was hoping to have it cleaned out, or find out what was clogging it. The nurse looked in my ear, said there was nothing in it, and immediately took me for a hearing test, which I thought was pretty weird, since I didn't say I was having trouble hearing, just that my ear felt blocked/clogged. The results of the hearing test showed them that I had slight high frequency hearing loss...Probably due to the fact that my ear was clogged! Dr. Layland then checked inside my ear and also said there was nothing in it, it was perfectly clean. He said it was normal to feel like it's blocked when you have hearing loss. This made no sense, I was on the verge of tears because he told me I would likely have this feeling in my ear for the rest of my life and there was NOTHING I could do about it. I just got back from another appointment with Dr. Elliot Lieberman and he found a noticeable, dried up infection in my ear immediately. He… cleaned it out and prescribed me drops. He couldn't believe what I told him from my appointment with Dr. Layland. I am currently working on not being billed for this appointment with Dr. Layland. Unbelievable !! Do not see this "Doctor"!

Dr. Layland went out of his way to help me. I saw him as an "emergency" (I had terrible facial pain and needed to be seen right away). Instead of going to the emergency room, he was able to see me after his regular schedule on the same day. He took the time and did a thorough exam. I think that most docs would have just given me and antibiotic prescription and sent me on my way. But, he didn't find anything on exam. So he did a CT scan during that very visit. This proved that I didn't have a sinus infection (I could have sworn that I did!). Because he took the time, he was able to diagnose my real (rare issue) and now I am cured.

Both my husband and I have seen Dr. Layland for a variety of issues. He is always attentive and thorough. He discovered a pituitary tumor in my brain cavity, and shared in the surgery with the neurosurgeon. He ave excellent follow-up care.

I have seen Dr. Layland for years. I had Chronic sinus infections before being referred to Dr. Goldin and the ENT Center. They were miracle workers. Had sinus surgery about 6 years ago and couldn't be happier. Referred them to several co-workers and Dr. Layland found a cancer during routine sinus exam EARLY onset and performed surgery on my friend who couldn't be happier and his early detection saved his life. Numerous co-workers have gone to this practice and Dr. Layland in particular and all have nothing but extreme praise for all Drs. here. Too bad only the people who have a problem take the time to comment here.

I had an inflamed gland that needed to be removed and later turned out to be cancerous. It seemed that from the moment he gave me the cancer diagnosis he actively removed himself psychologically from my case and from me. There was little communication with him and I had to depend on his clueless office team who had to go back to him over and over until he finally called me. At that point I had spoken to several doctors about the surgery and specifically about him finding out that he is considered an excellent surgeon. So we finally spoke, on a Friday night, and scheduled my second surgery. Communication after surgery was good because I had complained about it after the first surgery and ongoing. I followed up with him in the office a week after surgery and he implied that I would need follow up on a continuing basis since the cancer has a high recurrence rate, but we would talk after my next surgery. I called the office to make a next appointment and there were no notes in my… file. Again, one of his clueless office people called me telling me to make an appointment through the ENT clinic I usually went to. No indication of when and no indication that the appointment should be with him. Awaiting yet another call to clarify the details. If you like communication, this is NOT the doctor for you. Competent? Yes, but a little smug and unwilling to give of himself.

I would not recommend this doctor or this practice. The office and doctors are unprofessional and rude.

This doctor is an absolute ripoff. Walked into the room and spent (literally) 4 minutes with us to let us know he couldn't provide an ear test on my 2.5 year old son. Too much wax in his ears. Get a Debrox solution to clean his ears out and make another appointment in 2 weeks. Ok...well we got charged $153 dollars for that. 2 weeks later (today) we wait 45 minutes for him to finally come in. If you have a 2.5 year old child you might understand that after 45 minutes that child is pretty much over the entire visit and wants out. Now that he is finally in the room, my son is over the visit and is making the process difficult for this doctor to look in his ears. "Yea well, I didn't think he would be able to sit through this test anyways so let me recommend a different doctor that handles kids to get this done for you." WHAT??? Well why did you have us make another appointment if this was your original thoughts for us to get charged another $153!!! So basically in a nut shell, we wanted… to find out why a specialist told us our son was almost def so we went to this ear nose and throat guy. We spent $306 for him to tell us he had too much wax in his ears for him to perform an ear test and that he was too young to handle the test...Anything wrong here???? I think we should be refunded our money from a woman on the phone who isn't going to play stupid or the doctor himself.
