Dr. Michael Robert Obrecht, DO

I just recently had my first appointment with this doctor. My last doctor retired, and gave the option to transfer to this doctor. Since it was so close and didn't require finding a new doctor for me, I agreed. However I will looking for a new doctor promptly. After my appointment I left with a prescription that I needed for my issues, however the experience during the appointment was not all that great. He just felt very cold and didn't seem to really care about me, as he asked all of one question and then began rattling off all sorts of medical information. My previous docotor was much more personable and I never once felt judged or that I couldn't go to him with concerns. I'm sure he is a great doctor to some, but his style just doesn't work for me. And I'm not sure what happened. But in the past when I have gone to my pharmacy to pickup medication it has been ready within 15-20 minutes. Today I went to lunch before picking up my medication. And it still wasn't ready. Which would… make it seem that the doctors office didn't call it in right away. Not pleased.

I have been going to this Doctor since I was 18 years old. At 19 he put me on a benzo daily to help me sleep without any given knowledge of what I was getting myself into. Fast forward 8 years. My medication was not working very well anymore. Doctor suggested I go on a higher dosage of a stronger benzo. Fast forward 3 more years. Everything going fine medication is working proper. He calls me in to see me, gives me a random urine screen and finds THC in my system ( which I told him a few years prior I every so often use THC based products... so yes. he already knew). Yes some may frown but please spare me and take time to understand. This Doctor had his nurse call me and pulled a high dosage of a benzo out from under me. That in my opinion is malpractice. Now I will be dealing with seizures and potential death (yes it's very true look it up) due to him pulling me off of this benzo instead of trying to help me ween off of them. All because 1 random urine screen, which never once was… given prior, in 11 years showing THC is my system. He did not even care to have me back in to discuss anything or try to help me as a real doctor should. If you choose this man as your doctor just know that you are nothing more than a number. Did he have the right to pull me off the medication? I suppose so as he can do what ever he wants. Should he have abruptly stopped my medication? You decide...

Dr did tests , nurse called back with results and I've tried 4 times to get the doctor to call me because the test came back negative and he didn't care to follow up with me to try to find a solution. Dealing with the office that tells you one thing one day and something else the next is difficult.

Dr. Obrecht is an excellent doctor. He is a family practicioner, so my entire family can be seen by him, and I think there is value in his knowing the entire family and being able to care for us all well. My young child is very comfortable with Dr. Obrecht and they interact very well together. I am comfortable talking to him about any concerns I might have. He is a good listener and is willing to discuss treatment options and plans with you and not just hand you a script and expect you to obediently take it and not ask any questions. The office as a whole is excellent. They are very busy which sometimes makes the wait a little longer than one might really like, but I have never felt rushed when it is my turn to speak to the nurse and doctor.

I had an obvious kidney problem, that Dr. Obrecht diagnosed as MCD. He sent me to a nephralogist, who disagreed, but ordered a kidney biopsy to be sure. The test proved it was indeed MCD, and Dr. Obrecht was correct. He surprised me a couple of times, when he was willing to see me and offer advice, even without an appointment, when I was visiting one of the other services in the building.
