Dr. Peter Singhung Chan, MD

Very dismissive. I would not recommend this doctor and I am requesting a second opinion

Peter Chan is a very smart man. Much smarter than you. You are lucky to meet him. Peter Chan went to Duke. Did you go to Duke? No, you did not. You are not like Peter Chan. Peter Chan also went to Georgetown. He has a certificate that says so. It is printed on the finest woven paper. So it is framed on his wall. The frame is of the highest caliber. You probably don't recognize the Carpathian pulp from which its built. You went to a...state school you say? No, you do not know. Peter Chan is a busy man. Are you busy? Of course not. You did not spend time at Penn. Peter Chan did. You make less money. More money equals better than. Peter Chan makes lots of money. Because "in and out" culture. "Workers comp" scams. You will never have money. You don't want it? You are a failure. "Your hand is injured you say? It's just pain. I'm a surgeon, not a ergonomicist. What do you want me to do?" Peter Chan is right. Always right. His job is too important to address discomfort. You ask how long… you should rest before resuming manual labor? Go to a real doctor. Not a mechanic. Peter Chan is a mechanic. Of the best kind. Capitalism has spoken. Peter Chan is a talented surgeon. He can scalpel through living matter with precision. And never breaks a sweat. For he feels nothing. Why would he? The human body is a machine. If it is broken, he can fix it. He yearns for the marbled flesh. It looks marvelous as the saline drips fresh spatters of coagulation. If Peter Chan can't fix it, there are other broken machines. Maybe they can be fixed? Peter Chan does not talk to the machine as a human. His golfing partners are for that (on Saturdays. 3PM. Freshly laundered pants). But not the machine. For the machine is a patient. It can be sutured. But not respected.

I would urge you to try and avoid Dr. Chan if you have an option to choose someone else. Let me preface this by first stressing that I am not a doctor, nor do I have any kind of medical knowledge. This review is not critiquing Dr. Chan's knowledge or experience as a Doctor, but rather, his general attitude and "bedside manner" towards his patients. I came in on a worker's compensation claim for my employer. I won't speculate on whether or not this had any impact on my experience, but I do think it's important to make it clear why I was there. The experience with Dr. Chan felt like a race. It felt as if we were just rushing to get to the end so he could retrieve back into his private quarters. During my explanation of my work accident, he spent some time looking at his Iwatch. He ran a few tests on my arm and determined that there isn't really anything he could do. The remainder of the time was spent brushing off any concerns I had and stressing that I didn't require surgery. Not… once did I demand surgery, nor was I even asked what my opinion was. I was looking to see if I could at the very least be scheduled an MRI just as a preventative measure, but that was shot down with very little explanation as to why other than "MRI isn't a miracle cure". No attempt was made to provide any sort of alternative solutions. It wasn't even made clear whether or not I should continuing wearing the stent I was using, if I should try rehab instead, or whether I should just do nothing. Rest was mentioned briefly, but to what capacity? So many questions were left unanswered, and it felt genuinely like my issues weren't taken seriously. The worst part for me was when Dr. Chan mentioned that he had his own rotator cuff issues that he should take action on, but chooses not to. What kind of a doctor encourages this type of behavior? What kind of doctor brags to their patient about issues they have with their joints, and then follows it up with something along the lines "I'll take care of it when the time comes"? The only reason why I am not giving one star is because the receptionists were very friendly and reacted promptly to any of my concerns. Please give yourself the opportunity to seek another option if possible.

Dr. Chan is a horrible doctor out to serve the interests of the insurance company over those of his patients. He does not listen to any concerns or answer any questions regarding treatment. If you have a choice pick a different doctor, one that will put your health and recovery as first priority.

Dr. Chan is brilliant and a talented hand surgeon. I highly recommend him! I am in the medical profession and have seen the bad surgeons.

Worse than tax collectors. False doctor will lie on reports and dismiss your injury for insurance money. Should be locked up in brazil slums. Doesn't care about his patient runs office for security.

Terrible experience waited an hour to see him he spent two minutes looking at me did little measurements didn't look or listen to what I had to say about my injury said I don't see anything back to work. The insurance company pushes and pays off these doctors they don't give a crap about their patients.

I agree and concur with all the accounts of his rude and abrasive manner. He did not listen to what I said. He was badgering, etc. If this wasn't workers comp where I was at his mercy, I would have walked out

As I read the reviews I can't help but wonder what side of the bed did they wake up on, or are they the type of people just going doctor to doctor to hear what they want to hear? Dr Chan is brilliant, he's there as a professional and will give you the most honest opinion around. I have recommended Dr. Chan to many people in my community. He is honest, caring, knowledgable and his follow through is impeccable. He saved my hand several years ago. Also had carpal tunnel release and was amazed that I was virtually pain free the next day following surgery. But what I'm most impressed by, is that one weekend night several years ago, my then 8 year old son fell and his arm was mangled. I called Dr. Chan's service, he was at a bbq and called in orders to the ER, and was there before we arrived. He set his ulna & radius with perfection. He narrowly escaped surgery and pins and I'm grateful. I'm setting up for a surgery coming up once again, he knows my extensive health history and… is cautious, concerned and the only one I would trust. He doesn't have all the accolades for no reason. Would recommend over and over without hesitation!

I am a hairdresser and had severe trama to my two fingers due to a accident. I arrived at Morristown Memorial er and they told me they were calling Dr Chan in. When he arrived, I found him very personal, very reassuring, and confident. I was so afraid I'd have to lose a finger and my career would be over, but he reassured me that he wouldn't let that happen. He operated on me in the er and assured me the whole time. He totally saved my fingers,my career. He's a wonderful talented Dr. He also returned my call within 5 minutes, when I had slept through my pain meds. On a Sunday morning. That's a first for me with a Dr.. He is a dedicated caring Dr.who saved my fingers and my career.
