Dr. Melanie J Andrews

DR. MELANIE ANDREWS received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from LSU School of Dentistry in 1983. She completed a Residency in General and Hospital Dentistry at University Hospital of Jacksonville, Florida in 1984 and established her dental practice in Destrehan in 1985.
Dr. Andrews is proud to have served the Destrehan community and the River Parishes as a General Dentist for over 24 years. She is especially flattered to have cared for her patients’ children and grandchildren, and has inspired several young women to choose careers in dentistry.
The Doctor is a member of the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association and the New Orleans Dental Association, as well as the Crescent City Implant Study Club. She is a past officer of the New Orleans Dental Association and was the General Chairman of the New Orleans Dental Conference. Dr. Andrews received her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1998, an accomplishment which represents over 600 hours …of continuing dental education. She is an avid believer in lifelong learning and completes many hours of continuing education each year. Her particular areas of emphasis are Smile Design, Reconstructive Dentistry and Endodontics.
Dr. Andrews participates in the Donated Dental Services Program and Team Smile. She is available to lecture to community and dental groups and has given presentations for Patterson Dental, Delta Dental Studies and the Valero Employees Lunch and Learn.
The doctor and her husband, Brian Shepard live in Destrehan with three spoiled cats. Brian is a retired geologist and works full-time in the dental practice as a CEREC Technician. When they’re not at work, the Shepards can often be found in their backyard garden among the ferns, orchids and tropical plants.
