Summary
Michael B. Rogers, DDS – Email
Dr. Rogers is a native of Southern California. He now resides in Vienna, VA with his wife Terri and two dogs, Aussie and Cruzan. Their daughter, Megan, resides in Northern Virginia and is the owner of Paws and Claws Photography. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Rogers enjoys gardening, photography, scuba diving and visiting Caribbean islands.Â
Looking at patients’ overall health and not just their teeth is one of the cornerstones to Dr. Rogers’ approach to dentistry. By coordinating with a network of other health professionals including chiropractors, osteopaths, massage therapists and physical therapists, he assures his patients are receiving the comprehensive care they need. He feels that “anyone can give a patient white, straight teeth.â€Â However, Dr. Rogers believes long term results require a proper diagnosis of underlying causes. “If a patient has broken teeth, we try to figure out why they have worn, broken teeth instead of …just fixing the teeth.â€Â If we can solve the cause the problem of the why, then we can get a much better result.â€Â Dr Rogers feels that it’s important to look at the patient as a person first, then as a patient. Equally important to a successful outcome is making sure that the procedure fits within the patient’s schedule, lifestyle, and budget.Â
Dr. Rogers’ commitment to continuing education extends to his entire team, as he regularly closes the office for a few days each year so everyone can attend seminars and conferences along with him. This action has resulted in a knowledgeable, professional team at Fairlington Dental.Â
Why did Dr Rogers become a dentist?
His interest in dentistry developed at an early age. Due to childhood illnesses, his permanent teeth never developed the hard enamel covering. As a result, he had many of his primary teeth extracted to allow the weak and discolored permanent teeth to erupt. By the age of 12, he had a cavity on nearly every tooth, and was often teased by other kids about the brown color of his teeth.
Many years later, after many extractions and extensive orthodontics, Dr. Rogers finally had veneers placed on his front teeth. For the first time in his life, he could smile without the fear of strange looks from others. He knows firsthand the psychological and physical benefits of having cosmetic dental work, and has great empathy for patients in similar circumstances. In addition, Dr. Rogers has since experienced toothaches requiring root canal treatment and numerous crowns on his back teeth, helping him to be sensitive to how patients feel about their treatment.
