Dr. Richard Schmid graduated high school Cum Laude in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He then went on to Michigan State University, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. He then obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, followed by certificates in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Detroit St. John Hospital and Children's Hopsital of Michigan.Â
Dr. Schmid has been in private practice Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1983 in Melbourne, Florida. During his career he has earned status as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as a Diplomate in the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He has published articles within the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and has been active within the community as former chief of the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Holmes Regional Medical Center, past president of the Brevard County …Dental Society, and former delegate of the Florida Dental Association from Brevard County. Dr. Schmid has also been a volunteer as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Brevard County Health Department community dental center.
In his spare time, Dr. Schmid is an avid skier who has conquered slopes all over the world, and is past president of the Space Coast Ski Club. He also enjoys swimming, working out, and spending time with his three grown children.  Â
