Dr. Sharine Valentine Thenard, DDS

Dr. Sharine Thenard is proud to be a part of the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team. An Alameda native, she grew up on the island and was even a patient of this dental practice many years ago. After attending St. Joseph’s Notre Dame High School, she completed her Bachelor of Science at UC Davis. Dr. Thenard attended the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, where she was heavily involved in children’s oral health promotion and screening and also served as student body president. After dental school, Dr. Thenard went to Columbus, Ohio to the Columbus Children’s Hospital to complete a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry. While in Ohio, she also earned her Master of Science from The Ohio State University.
In addition to providing outstanding dental services to our pediatric community, she also teaches at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, where she has been on faculty since 2005. Dr. Thenard is heavily involved in multiple …dental organizations. She enjoys interacting with her colleagues and representing the needs of children as well as dentists on local, state, and national levels. She is Past President of the Alameda County Dental Society and is currently a Trustee for the California Dental Association. Additionally, she is Secretary for the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. 
Dr. Thenard is committed to continual learning. She has been board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 2006, and she stays up to date on the latest dental research and techniques. She is on staff at Oakland Children’s Hospital and has access and privileges to perform hospital dentistry at their locations.  
Dr. Thenard spends her time with her wonderful husband, Zack, and her cuddly labradoodle, Kona. She loves to travel, read, and explore local events and activities. You may also occasionally see her riding her bike or jogging along the beach in Alameda.
