Went to Dr. Ackerman for a reoccurring hip issue. Dr. Ackerman took x-rays and had an MRI done. discovered torn labral and bone spurs in my left hip along with a deformity in my hip bone. scheduled surgery. Great bedside manners, surgery went well feeling much better! Joy his medical assistant was very helpful in getting things scheduled.

He answered all the questions my wife and I had. His answers were succinct, thorough and understandable. We are very happy with his follow-up and the outcome of the surgery. I would certainly recommend Dr Ackerman to others.

Dr. Ackerman is an excellent clinician and a gifted surgeon. My need for a unilateral hip replacement was for me a source of anxiety and uncertainty for a very long time. With Dr. Ackerman's help and the help of the staff who work with him, I am now the happy recipient of a new hip joint - never had pain nor any difficulty post-surgery. What amazing patient care.

My experience with Dr. Ackerman and his entire staff was the best experience I’ve ever had with the medical Industry. This is coming from a person that doesn’t like hospitals or anything medical!! His team along with himself reassured me and gave me all confidence in their abilities. I had to have my hip completely replaced and I had a lot of worries and doubts. I had bilateral hip replacement done 4 months ago.I was seen by a different MD but Dr Ackerman was highly recommended by everyone i talked too.He recommended that i should do it at same time and explained me to the pros and cons.I was scared but he told me that i can handle it.Calling his office is a breeze and his staff especially Joy was very attentive to my needs.The surgery went well.He responds to my calls and emails right away.He treated me with respect.I was glad that i let him do my surgery.

I recently had a full hip replacement done with Dr. Ackerman which I am now fully recovered from. I had several consultations with other surgeons from NW and Rush, but they did not give off the same impression Dr. Ackerman did and were not as confident in that work. Not only did I need a full replacement, but I also had a leg length differential that needed to be addressed as part of the operation. Dr. Ackerman assured me he would be able to add the length where as the NW and Rush surgeons were hesitant. I am now feeling better than I ever have in my life with the new hip and have no limitations just 7 months after my surgery. If you are considering a replacement, please skip the time and aggravation dealing with a huge hospital and instead head here. Surgery was performed at Illinois Masonic hospital and every staff member was extremely kind and helpful.

Dr. Jeffrey Ackerman performed a bi-lateral hip replacement on me. The two surgeries were 11 months apart. I give my sincere thanks to Dr. Ackerman and his team. Dr. Ackerman was with me every step of the way; he guided me through the process; diagnosis, surgery, post-surgery, and through to full recovery. I was well cared for throughout the entire process. I have always been a very active/fit person. So, to suddenly be so humbled by debilitating pain -- to the point I could no longer walk much less run. Dr. Ackerman gave me my life back.

Once bone-on-bone was determined, my internist referred me to Dr. Ackerman for consultation. He is professional, patient, generous with his time, answering all my questions and explaining my options. It was clear that cartilage loss is irreversible. I decided to have the anterior right hip replacement as soon as possible. Pre-op instructions were clear. His office staff (esp Joy) helpful. The surgery went smoothly, after which Dr. A checked in that day to explain recovery steps. He even brought me a copy of the post-op x-ray. Pain was minimal. Dutifully I did my physical therapy exercises as directed. Healing was slow, steady, short. Dr. A is a skilled compassionate fine surgeon who has made my life better. So blessed to have had him as my surgeon.

I had to have knee reconstruction and Dr. Ackerman was my surgeon. He was excellent and I would recommend him any day. He really cares about making sure you have completely recovered. His assistant Joy is also the best. She makes sure you receive all of your follow-up appointments to see the doctor and is very professional. Illinois Bone & Joint Institute is the best.
