Summary
As a fellowship trained spine surgeon, I believe the most important recipe for successful outcome in spine surgery is a good relationship between the patient and their surgeon. Spine surgery is complex and can be understandably very daunting to patients., My job is not only to treat patients with various spinal diseases, but also to create bonds with my patients that last a lifetime.
During my fellowship, I became highly trained in minimally invasive spine surgery, robotic spine surgery, adult deformity surgery, as well as the treatment of numerous spinal pathologies including spinal trauma and spinal tumors. Although performing surgery brings me joy, the best part of my job is seeing a cane- or wheelchair-bound patient walk without any assistance into my clinic at post-surgical follow-up and hearing them say that they are back to living their life. That is what gets me up in the morning and that is why I chose this field; to build a relationship with my patients and work together to …deliver to them the best possible care.
I was born and raised in Ghana. At the age of 13, my family immigrated to the United States and settled in The Bronx, New York. I received my undergraduate education at SUNY at Albany and subsequently obtained my medical degree at Albany Medical College. I completed my neurosurgery residency at the University at Buffalo Neurosurgery Program. During residency, I completed the CAST-accredited Complex Spine Fellowship at University at Buffalo Neurosurgery.
My other areas of interest include clinical spine research and the socioeconomic aspects of neurosurgery, like mission trips to help the less fortunate.
During my leisure, I enjoy exercising, cooking, watching movies and spending time with my beautiful family.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
