Dr. Walter Chongyuen Jean, MD

Dr Jean took the time to review previous dr notes, mri, and listen to my concerns (how i was injured and the extent of pain). He ordered a ct and explained the options and what factors determined what type of surgery would be required. I was scheduled for surgery and immediately noticed the pain on my spine was gone. Results vary, but I am pretty healthy and healed well. Throat was sore 2 days, but pain meds made that and the muscle spasms in my back tolerable. Its week 3 and the hardest thing is being patient and following restrictions in order to heal/fuse. I made an excellent choice when allowong Dr Jean to perform the surgery. His wait time is reasonable and I like the straight to the point responses. Ive read horror stories from other people that used othet doctors and made sure I selected someone with good reviews. It made me feel more relaxed as i was rolled into surgery knowing I could trust his hands. Some people complain about bedside manner bc Dr Jean is short and to the… point, but i was more concerned with his ability to perform the surgery. Hes a nice man and his assistant promptly answered any additional questions and Dr Jean personally scheduled a day/time pirot to the surgery to ensure all of my concerns were addressed. He also made sure all my questions were answered after the surgery and physical and occupational surgey were provided. I have no complaints.

I appreciate his professionalism and skill, nad his bedside manner has grown over the last 6 years that I have been a patient. I was diagnosed more than 6 years ago with a rare tumor disorder, and have 2 benign brain tumors that he has been watching. They have grown very little and have caused me very few problems. He felt the best plan was to wait and see, and he has been correct, I am still here because of wonderful providers like him and others. The staff from the front desk to nursing have always been great!

I just wanted to pass along that I had my Trans â?? Lab method of surgery with Doctor Kim/Jean this last 12/8. It took six hours which Dr. Jean indicated as being a smooth operation. Since I decided on the trans lab approach I am SSD on my left. I really donâ??t seem to tell much of a difference since my hearing was at 50% on that side anyway. As far as I can tell I have zero facial paralysis. Of course my stability is off right now but I anticipate a quick recovery. My experience the first night was pretty awful with nausea, the nursing staff at Georgetown are top notch. Dr. Kim/Jean are great surgeons very analytical so donâ??t expect to sit and drink a Starbucks caramel macchiato with them. I will tell you I am a nuts and bolts type and if you can say "hi how ya doing today" thatâ??s ok with me. I want results and they have giving me everything I could expect.

I had a benign brain cyst that gave me debilitating migraines. They disappeared and I recovered very quickly from the operation. He may not have a very good bedside manner but he is an oustanding surgeon and a wonderful diagnostician!

Dr. Jean's bedside manner has grown in the years since I first received treatment. He very empathetic while still being extremely competent. His surgical skills are incomparable and he is kind to the family and provides hard news and options that one can act on with the confidence that he has arrived at the correct direction. I would recommend Dr. Jean for anyone with a need for neurosurgery.
