Dr. Vanessa Ohnes-Verduguez

My wife referred me to Dr. Ohnes because of back pain, PTSD, and anxiety related to my military service. She has seen Dr. Ohnes for years and really respected and liked her. Instead of addressing my PTSD, anxiety, and my back pain, she diagnosed me with drug addiction. We had an extensive conversation about PTSD and the military, and I really felt that she cared during the visit, just to be disappointed to find out that the only thing it seems she really cared about was that she felt that I was a drug addict. The only "drug" I use or have ever taken is marijuana for my anxiety and back pain (as was shown on the drug tests I took and was never told I would take). I received a HUGE bill for almost $700 for a full drug panel that I was never told I was going to be given. Drug abuse is actually a diagnosis on my medical record now, before she even received the results of the drug panel! My test results weren't gone over, and after reviewing my medical records, I see that there were… several that were abnormal, AND a diagnosis that was never even discussed with me. All I wanted was my annual visit, some pain relief since I was missing work due to my back, and possibly a referral to a therapist or psychiatrist for the anxiety and PTSD. Even looking at my medical records, it shows she prescribed an SSRI that I specifically refused due to not liking to take drugs of any kind (see where I'm confused on my drug abuse diagnosis?). I was never told that this was prescribed since she told me that she understood my hesitation with taking pills. Needless to say, I have not gone back. I will not go back. She also lost a patient with my wife, who refuses to see her due to my experience.

if you don't mind waiting on hold for 20 min+ or playing phone message tag with schedulers Dr. Ohnes is a good doctor but quite shielded by her staff making it difficult to get in. caused me to switch to somewhere else/ already have high blood pressure so the stress of perpetual on-hold-music is not good

From A Recommendation I Wanted To Set An Appointment Up With Dr. Ohnes For My 76 Year Old Mother. It was Quite Imperative To Get An Appointment As Soon As Possible. When I Called The Office To Ask To Set An Appointment, I Was Told Very Rudely That I Must Go Online To Fill Out A Patient Questionnaire, Submit It, The Doctor Would "Approve" It And Someone From The Office Would Be Calling Me. This Was On In The Morning On Wednesday, October 4th. I Called Thursday, The 5th Inquiring How Long It Took The Doctor To "Approve" The Submission, As I Was Anxious In Getting My Mother In Quickly. I Was Told That The Doctor Herself, Called In Sick That Day - But As Soon As She "Approves" It The Office Would Be Calling Me To Set Up An Appointment. Friday The 6th, I Heard Nothing From Their Office. Monday, October 9th I Called And Inquired If The Doctor Has "Approved" My Submission Yet? I Was Told Then That Dr. Ohnes Has A 3 MONTH Waiting Period For New Patients!!!! I Am Infuriated To Be Told Now,… After My Mother Has Been Desperately Waiting. What Kind Of Doctor Holds Her GERIATRIC PATIENTS Out For 3 MONTHS?!?!?! From Dr. Ohnes To Her Office Staff They Do Not Seem To Care For Their Patients! As I Stated Earlier, Dr. Ohnes Came Highly Recommended And I Had High Hopes With Texoma Medical Care Being Part Of Our Local Hospital - However That Has Been Dashed! I Am Glad To Know Now And Would Never Recommend Dr. Ohnes To Anyone - NO GERIATRIC DOCTOR - Is Worth Waiting 3 Months For When The Patient Has Pressing Medical Issues - This Does Not Speak Well For Dr. Ohnes Or Her Staff! Very Disappointing. I Will Be Taking My Mother To A Doctor Who Genuinely Cares For Their Patients And "Approval" Is Not Needed In Order To Make The First Appointment!!

I just can't thank Dr. Ohnes enough for saving my father's life! I called her paging system on a Friday night because my 87 year old father was complaining of chest soreness. I did not think it was serious but I calles her anyway due to my parents' request ( they trust her blindly!). Within 2 minutes she calles me back ( impressive promt responder). I explained to her the situation and after hearing me out she said he could have a heart attack and needed to go to ER immediately. While i was struggling to decide what to do next she had called the ambulance herself and even called the ER doctor to tell him we were coming. Her fast and efficent assessment of the situation saved my father's life! She is great! What an intelligent, hard working and kind young lady!!! God bless her!!

I am so glad she is my father's geriatrician. She is so patient, respectful and caring. Just what I wanted for my 89 year old father with dementia. Her diagnosis was so accurate and she took her time to explain his disease to us. She is just great!
