As a physician in Texas, and as a recent patient, I Just wanted to let the public know that Dr. Luh worked with me to resolve a very difficult toe infection.
I am a large man; After months of suffering from a puncture wound in my foot, and after 2 1/2 months of trying my own remedies...such as longterm wound suction/debridement, topical antibiotics, foot donuts to relieve pressure on the wound, and other methods,....
I was apprehensive as to whether or not anyone could really fix the chronic ""pea sized" ulceration that developed on my foot after perforation by a dirty thorn that went thru my leather and rubber soled work boot.
Dr. Luh recommended on my first visit a procedure that was invasive but would have been curative. At my own request, I asked for other non surgical options; We tried those without good results due to unrelenting gravitational pressure on my foot and toes.
As a result of my conservative decision making, I didnt heal. I take responsibility for that.
So, I decided to listen to the doctor that "knew" what was best for me from day one. He had originally recommended a procedure to shave my metatarsal ; This would potentially release pressure on the plantar surface of my midfoot and toes,..thus allowing the chronic infection to heal. Surgery was done and went well .
FYI, Dr. Luh has a great bedside personality, is extremely personable,and is one of the few docs that "actually cares" for his patients;
He and has excellent technical /surgical skills. He explains each treatment option in easy to understand medical or layman terms. He is the ideal person to explain to you the underlying mechanics and physics concerning your foot or ankle problems.
My recovery was within a week after suffering for months with a bad foot. I now think of him as my "go to guy" for any foot problems and,...as a healthcare professional that I can trust: His demeanor even allows me to have casual conversations with him on other anecdotal life experiences, hobbies etc. He is not just full of "book sense" but also has elevated levels of common sense as well. He is one of he few physicians that will work you in if there is a problem; From my personal experiences, he is the one that would most likely spend quality time with you on your appointments...in hopes to satisfy your questions, alleviate your fears,... and to make you comfortable with his office /hospital procedures.
He is a warm, kind, and intuitive professional that seems to recommend only those things that will speed patient recovery (ie. surgical vs. nonsurgical options,..depending upon the patients own fears and patient's demeanor).
I would highly recommend him to family, friends, and others that may not have experience with Podiatric physicians (DPM). It seems as a group , Podiatrists have focused their collective interests in providing short term and longterm foot and ankle solutions to those common problems that patients face in the North Texas area.
Thank you Dr. Luh for ending up practicing in a location within my town, and for being so very good at what you do to heal others. I will definitely seek his attention again, since he is now my first responder for any potential acute foot problems in the future.
My experience with Dr. Luh, truly got me "back to walking normally" and "living again" .
Respectively submitted, Dr. B , MD
