Dr. Shigemitsu completed his fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in pulmonary and critical care medicine. His specific research interests are sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary vascular disease, pneumonia, and asthma. He continues to publish and lecture on many of these topics. As co-director of the USC Sarcoidosis Clinic and USC Center for Lung Research, Dr. Shigemitsu is also actively involved with many clinical trials. He is also the director of the Medical ICU at LAC+USC Medical Center and provides supervision to medical students, residents, and fellows in training.
