Dr. Smita Maity, MD

I'm a 36 year old female veteran who is total and permanent disabled but doesn't look it. For the past 8 years none of the docs within 3 of the separate VA Healthcare systems treat me like I have a brain injury, seizure disorder, PTSD...you get it. Veterans like myself avoid the VA at all costs until we have no choice. I was hospitalized for a pulmonary embolism, collapsed lung, and plural effusion after being ignored for nine months by my provider. Dr. Maity was the first physician in my time with the VA who didn't rush me out the door, spoke to me like an intelligent and competent human being, and took other things seriously providers wouldn't even consider because she listened to my. While I can't speak for the experience the negative reviews, I will say it definitely seems like someone has it out for Dr. Maity. The individual I encountered was in no way reflective of the characterization of such a bad physician.

I’m very surprised by the negative reviews. My husband is being discharged today from Summerlin Hospital and Dr. Maity cared for him as the doc for the Hospital. She was very thorough and kind. My son is a physician and visiting from out of town and everything we questioned he verified as being the right way to go. I would have no problem recommending her.

The physician is one of the most apathetic, egotistical and condescending medical professionals I’ve ever encountered. I have a lot of respect for medical professionals who have to deal with the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to patients...because I am a medical professional and I get it! This physician does not consider any recommendations or suggestions from any specialists, her patients or any one for that matter. As a result, she allows patients to deteriorate right under her care and she makes it known she can care less. Every time she walked in my wife’s room, I felt like we needed a third party to witness her rudeness and witness her unprofessionalism. She put a stain on our experience at Summerlin hospital. Everything was great except our encounters with her and horrible oversight of my wife’s medical care. Most of these reviews were related to pain management. Luckily we didn’t require pain management but simple medical management and she mismanaged it entirely!

The 4 and 5 star reviews on here are obviously false, because if you were that pleased with your doctor, you would write why when posting a review. I was assigned Dr Maity under intense pain so I had no time or reason to research her. But if you do get the opportunity, ask for a different Attending. You do not want to have your health and pain management in her hands. She will make you feel unimportant and will not listen to you or address valid concerns. She does not care about your well being, I firmly believe she sees only dollar signs when looking at her patients. I’ve never felt so driven to warn others of poor performance, but your health is serious and I’m so regretful mine was in her care.

3rd time trying to post, must be a character limit. I will shorten my review: this woman is awful. Non informative, dismissive, apathetic and borderline negligent. I learned more about my condition from googling the Mayo Clinic than from this doctor. Her lack of guidance caused me real pain and distress. Look at other review sites, all 1 star. I hold any institution accountable who uses her services and am considering filing a claim with the NV medical board.

Smita Maity , MD (Mentally Deranged) is the poster model of RUDENESS. If she happens to be your doctor, you will need a PPE complete with mask (her stinky body odor is beyond words) and ear plugs for her nasty words. I wonder why Summerlin Medical Center still hires her services? She lowers the hospital standard's by leaps and bounds. Her patients don't deserve to be abused by her rudeness! She thinks she is God's gift to mankind but I think she is worse than the Corona virus!

Are you kidding me? I now have to go to the bank, to get a check and then go find a stamp and an envelope rather than just a credit card with an online portal? What are you 80 years old?

I’ve never been treated like this in my entire life. I can say that because I’ve been in the worst hospitals in Southern California. She was the dr in charge of me after my surgery. The dr that performed my surgery is an excellent dr I have no complains but her?? Wow she is just everything I’ve been reading here. Actually when I was reading all the other comments left here I had my mouth open I couldn’t believe I wasn’t the only one that had the same things to say about her. I don’t consider myself a pain in the butt patient. This dr dismissed the fact that I was still in a lot of pain after my surgery. Dr. Maity said it was normal after surgery but that I should just get up and walk around and that would help. If it wasn’t because my dr was in charge of giving medication this woman would had kept me crying of pain every night. To make matters worse I have to go back to the same hospital because of complications from surgery and she is the dr in charge!! Wow really!? As soon as I was… admitted they paged her like 3 times for her to give me pain meds. While I was laying down in the hospital bed in agony. I cried for 3 hours and even the nurse felt so bad for me she kept insisting with her messages. I was 3 days in the hospital and this woman made them a living nightmare. Always condescending, always acting rudely disregarding everything that I would tell her. Where I knew she was full of it is when she told me “ remember you told me yesterday you had a fever!? Your nurse told me that you haven’t had a fever in 3 days” I was in shock to see with what pleasure she was saying these words when I in no way told her that. I told her that I felt hot to the touch and thought I was having a little temperature not fever!!!! She is just so rude. Please someone should really try to take her dr license revoked or suspended. She is not dr material. She doesn’t care about her patients. She talks down to her patients and doesn’t have any empathy for the ill.

I have a condition called gastroparesis.. I've been in and out of summerlin over twenty times.. I had Dr. Maity..I fired her.. She's has no bed side manner, talks over you, doesn't listen.. Any other time I came to the hospital I was out in 2 days. This time its been 6 days because she didn't give me the medication I'm always given, didn't call my g.I.doc for 3 days and did nothing for my extreme pain.I asked for some pain meds and she accused me of being there for the drugs.. Yet I went 3 months with no issues and then it was just set off.but in here for the drugs, its bad enough without the person your seeking help from refuses to help, She a liar and a terrible doctor.. Please save yourself from this woman!!

If I could give this doctor less than one star I would. She deserves a - 10. She bursts into the room like a bull in a china shop and if there is any noise of any sort she says it "disturbs" her concentration. She has absolutely NO bedside manner. ZERO! NADA! ZILCH! She is not only condescending but extremely rude. If he is your chosen doctor at any hospital RUN the other way. Maybe she feels that she was anointed by the Almighty as the greatest doctor ever made. Based on my experience it was one of His failures.
