With more than two decades of experience, Dr. Brian Gardner applies a compassionate and dedicated approach to eye care while emphasizing a patient-centered philosophy. He practices on the foundation that he is treating a person, not just a patient’s eyes. His expertise encompasses ocular disease management, post-surgical co-management, and contact lens services. He focuses on conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.Dr. Gardner pursued his education at West Virginia University, where he majored in biology. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Vision Science in 2003, followed by his Doctorate in Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. During his residency in primary eye care, he was honored as Resident of the Year at the NSU Institute.As a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, Dr. Gardner has garnered recognition for his outstanding contributions to eye care. He was named the Best Optometrist in northern Delaware in 2022 …and was a finalist for all eye care professionals in 2023 in the Delaware Online Community Choice Awards. In 2024, he was honored as a Top Doctor and featured in the 2024 Best of Delaware Magazine. He has published articles in Optometry Today and Review of Optometry, covering various topics related to diagnostic technology and ocular disease.Originally from Wheeling, West Virginia, Dr. Gardner briefly resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before settling in Middletown, Delaware, in 2005. In his leisure time, he enjoys quality moments with his wife and three children and engaging in physical activities like exercising, running, and biking.
