Dr. Amber Nicole Wooten, MD

Excellent surgeon, very compassionate .

Dr. Wooten took me after a SPECIALIST butchered me, she explained at this point all that could be done was a colonostomy. I was scared to tears, afraid I'd never get my life back. She took time to explain all that needed to be done, she was very compassionate and caring. I had several complications, ICU, septis and MRSA. She stood by me and weathered it all, knowing she had taken on a mess. I don't blame her for my complications but I was disappointed that through all of this I put my total trust in her regardless of complications. When it came to the pain I was experiencing while healing she seemed to doubt me. At times it was more than I could handle, I wanted to give up. I didn't ask for more pain meds, all I wanted to know is why wasn't my incision healing and what was causing the pain. 2 months later, after packing the wound, taking anitbiotics nothing got better. She released me to return to work after I told her I didn't feel I was ready. 3-4 weeks after going back to work I… start running a fever, the incision is red, my stomach is extended. I go in to see her and she says she just doesn't understand what's going on. I ask to see a wound care doctor, she refers me to one who went deep into the incision. found it had tunneled 7cm and cultured it. Finally an answer, I had MRSA. He finds which antibiotic it will respond to and finally a start to recovery after Dr. Wooten returns from vacation to read my results and prescribe the medication. Had I not asked to see a wound care doctor how long would I have suffered? I had a nurse coming in every other day who suggested I ask to see a wound care doctor, you know a fresh set of eyes. Boy was she ever heaven sent! I thank God for putting her in my life and for Dr. Wooten. I was disheartened only because she doubted me after everything we had gone through. My year is up and time for my reversal, do I take another chance on her? Not likely...
