Dr. VARMA IS AWESOME!

Waited 1 and a half hours. Waiting room had 12 or more patient s all the time. The only one who introduced themselves was the x-ray tech. Dr. spent less than 5 minutes, no mask, stood in corner, prescribed a med that was obvious he never looked at my chart. A total waste of time and gas. Very disappointed.

Amit B. Varma calls it as he sees it, then backs it up with x-rays, MRI, physical therapy, pain management, and as a final objective, surgery. He is pleasant with a wry sense of humor and quick with suggestions. For my particular back issue, he suggested pain mgmt., which is working well for me. And arthroscopy has taken care of knee and shoulder issues. Most of all, I TRUST him and his judgement. The ONLY issue I have with the institute is COMMUNICATION. Referral requests for Medicare Advantage Plan insurance authorizations, seem to get LOST between their office and my primary, resulting in repeated phone calls and looonnng holds, sometimes until after the office closes, and then disconnection. This results in frustration, with ongoing pain, and a need to start all over the next business day! In other words, Doc and his clinical support staff are great, however business end of the practice really needs an overhaul! ??

Dr. Varma repaired my right shoulder rotator cuff. After surgery (follow-up appointments), he did not explain how the surgery went or what he found or repaired. During recovery appointments, he looked at me, raised my arm twice and left. The nurse would afterwards tell me that everything was OK. I tried to force him to speak to me by preparing questions beforehand and asking him. He answered yes/no or told me it was OK. He never answered the root of my concern. He can be easily replaced by a machine or a robot.

Dr. Varma destroyed my mom's hand due to his impotence in surgery. She had to go to Jewett Orthopaedic where they had to re-do her surgery and put her plate back in correctly so she could bend her wrist. Jewett even stated it was a very bad job.

Dr. Varma has been my orthopedic physician of choice for over 7 years treating me for carpal tunnel and arthritic knees and along with his staff he is professional, caring, thorough and always takes the time to explain suggested treatments and procedures. Dr. Varma performed my total knee replacement surgery just two months ago and I am so thankful for the results I am ready to schedule the procedure for my other knee. Scheduling appointments is easy and wait time is minimal. I would recommend Dr. Varma to anyone looking for a superior sports injury doctor.

This Dr. is very highly trained and knows your shoulder. Would and have already sent other to him.

Dr. Varma is probably if not the best shoulder surgeon in central Florida ! Surgeon in Richmond Virginia help me locate him when I needed to have surgery here. He was very impressed that he is a 2 fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon. Anyone with a shoulder problem I highly recommend.
