Dr. Amy Jane Derick, MD

I went to Derick for an annual skin cancer screening and a few unrelated matters. Upon my arrival, the front desk could not verify my insurance. My insurance had changed and I provided them with my new insurance information. However, they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go through and told me I needed to pay for the entire visit. After about 15 minutes of them going back and forth when I expressed my disappointment, they finally saw me an said the insurance was worked out. I had to wait approximately 15 more minutes after that point to be seen (now I'm over 30 minutes past my appointment time). Once in the room, the nurse was friendly, however when the doctor came in - it was clear he was in a rush to get to the next patient. Additionally, when I asked him questions on the other items I had questions on - he couldn't seem to understand the questions and then when he finally did basically did nothing. I subsequently saw a different doctor who was able to provide a… treatment. The Derick doctor clearly was uninterested in treating me and left me feeling like I was just a checked off task. Post appointment, I received one bill which I promptly paid through my online bill pay. Approximately 2 months later I received a letter basically saying that if I didn't pay immediately they would send it to collections and "end our relationship". I called to complain about the letter and process to be told by the office manager that this is their "process". So, the process is to treat a patient as if you don't care about them at all and all that matters is if they get paid? The process is to not give any attention to the patient while there but give them a ton of attention when you don't find the check? Ridiculous. They cash the check and then say I didn't pay it after a terrible experience and then threaten to "end the relationship". Thanks but no thanks! The staff is unfriendly, clearly do not care about their patients and as quickly as they are growing have lost touch with the whole reason they say they are in business...to give the best possible care.

I had a very negative experience at Derrick Dermatology in Crystal Lake. I was given Botox injections that had little to NO effect, after which these “effects” were pointed out to me in a photo. I did not agree with the assessment of the PA who had administered the injections and did not see any visible effects. My expectations were based on previous injections I received from a different provider. Derrick dermatology made no effort to “make it right “...only offered to provide an additional injection at full price. Not sure why they thought I would want to pay for a second injection, when the first produced no results. I feel cheated and “robbed” by Derrick. Will go elsewhere for cosmetic injections in the future (back to my original provider...which is whereI SHOULD have gone this time). I will also find a new dermatologist. I do not trust this practice and will not return.

Be leary of staff changing your medications!!!! Stafff at Dr. Derick's Crystal Lake office changed my son's acne antibiotic that was working wonders to another antibiotic that "we like better". He only had a few months left to use an antibiotic and this change in medication regressed his acne to what it was before treatment. Three Calls to office to rectify situation left me with a secretary telling me there was nothing they could do with their mistake. So sorry we left our previous dermatologist. We will never return to Derick.

Thought with all different kinds of equipment, they could help with old acne scars and redness......wrong! Dr Derick not only wouldn't do any type of laser treatment, insisted on medication I was previously on years ago that I told her didn't work back then......didn't work again after wasting 3 months of time and money. Then went back after 3 months, saw nurse practitioner who called the doctor while I was in exam room....Dr Derick diagnosed my skin condition over the phone! Told nurse to keep me on same medication without even seeing me. Terrible.

I enjoy going to the office of Dr. Derrick.Dr. Derrick and staff are friendly and courteous. I recommend the office to family and friends.

Dr. Derick is a highly qualified doctor who cares a lot about her patients. A good doctor needs to be very detail oriented, and you can tell by everything from the clean, well appointed offices to the precise examination that she is that kind of MD. I have been going to her for skin care for several years now and keep coming back. I trust her with my skin.

I went in their for my first treatment, the staff was very professional and knew what she was doing. The entire process didn't take long at all and I didn't feel any pain. The next day they called me back to follow up on how I was feeling and they were really nice about it. After 3 and half weeks I was completely recovered and I could see some results already. This is definitely the right place to go for tattoo removal treatements.

My 3 year old son had to have a birth mark removed. Dr. Derick and her staff were outstanding. They were quick, caring, and did an amazing job. Very highly recommended.

Derick Dermatology is a very professional facility. The staff and offices are top notch. My siblings all use Dr. Derick for their different dermatological needs. Everyone has had great results. The technology is up to date and Dr. Derick is professional while still being personable.
