Dr. Amy I Gerhardt, MD

Had the misfortune of getting Dr Gerhardt when I went to Valley ER at 35 weeks pregnant w chest pains. Have never dealt with such a rude, inconsiderate dr before. It really soured my experience at Valley (though the nurses were lovely) and I never went back. Ended up delivering at another hospital.

Dr. Gerhardt told my 19 year old daughter that if I went through with a hysterectomy, I would die. Three years later, I am still here and I had the hysterectomy 3 years ago. I was going to die and almost did from hemoraging, had they not gone ahead with the hysterectomy. It is terrible bedside manners to tell that information to a young woman and extremely unprofessional. She clearly lacked experience!

I needed a new doctor after years at the same practice. Dr. Gerhardt is patient and kind, very attentive, and spent a lot of time getting to know my history. If you sign up with the patient portal you get a nice summary of your visit and it keeps track of you records, your labs, and your meds.

Dr. Gerhardt was excellent from the moment I met her. She got us through a difficult painful time with ease and endless comfort.

Dr. Gerhardt is a friendly, kind, intelligent doctor! EXACTLY the one you want at your side during good times and bad. She was gentle and honestly sad for me when we no longer heard my fetus' heartbeat, and joyously celebrated when I carried my next child full term! She entertained my every "new mom-to-to-be" whim, and did so with a smile every time. She is a affiliated with Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, which is second-to-none. She is a gem.

She has no bed manners and she is too young in this field to know what she's doing. I would not count on her experience. Pick someone else.

Very inconsiderate with pregnant women and their hormones. She is very rude and incompetent. She lost my biopsy, trying to blame the lab for her mistake and she went so far to tell me that this is something normal and had happened before. Really?! She cuts you off from whatever questions you have for her, making you feel awkward that you even ask that question, throwing in your face every time she gets the chance that she went to medical school and she knows everything. Needless to say that many patients were given bad diagnosis from ppl who also went to medical school, and others died by the hands of these ppl. STAY AWAY FROM HER if yoy

Dr. Gerhardt is very friendly and personable. She made me feel comfortable and spent adequet time talking to me. The office also has a messaging service which allows the doctor to privatly record a message for patients to later check in a voice mailbox setup specifically for them. The entire office staff is helpful and friendly as well.

After being with the same doctor for 13 years, insurance changes forced me to switch and I didn't think I'd find one I liked as much. I was wrong, turns out I like Dr. Gerhardt even more. From the initial visit I felt very comfortable with her, as though I was talking to a friend. She took time to answer any questions and understood my concerns.
