Dr. Andreea Alina Nanci, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Nanci for over 3 years because I was told she was the best. Every time I commented about side effects she would treat me like I was being ridiculous for complaining that I was vomiting non stop. She didn’t offer alternative options and when I didn’t want to continue a medication due to side effects and the fact that it hadn’t stopped the cancer from growing she said “you have to think of the people who are going to have to take care of you.” One appointment I was told “Herceptin doesn’t breach the blood brain barrier.” The next “it (cancer) could already be on your brain, we don’t know.” She told me a horror story of a woman who gave power of attorney to her schizophrenic son who had a psychotic break when the woman was dying and wouldn’t let them give her pain meds or anything so she spent 3 weeks screaming in pain until she died.” I felt like I was battling cancer AND my doctor. Im so glad I finally switched. I now have a doctor who values my priorities and is… on my team. Plus, my new doctor has a lot of different medication options if I experience excessive side effects or it doesn’t slow/stop the cancer. There are much better and nicer oncologists out there.

I was diagnosed with Lymphoma and referred to Dr. Nanci. She is awesome! She really takes her time, does her research and fights for her patients. I am so thankful she was referred to me.

I was diagnosed with an aggressive and large breast cancer tumor and had to start with chemo first. I was set to interview several oncologist but immediately loved the "take no prisoners" attitude she had and went with her. Dr. Nanci takes time to explain what is happening in your body, your treatment and fought with the insurance company on several issues to provide me coverage. She called me at home to remind me of a few things and explained research and options based on my type of cancer. I feel like I have an advocate fighting for me at every step of this journey. Yes she is a little loud (this may be a culture or language issue) but easy to understand and I got this as her passion for what she does. If you want a doctor that is fighting for you (and isn't that what you want in an oncologist?) and will explain any treatments she is fabulous. The wait is a little longer really only because I see her spend quality time with each patient. She has been a fabulous Dr. and she is worth… the wait!
