Dr. Arif Ahmed Chowdhury, MD

Zero stars. I should have shared this years ago. My daughter had uncontrolled seizures. We tried several medications. He suggested a Vagus Nerve Stimulator, a new form of treatment. He said there were 3 other patients getting it, so we agreed. She had surgery and a week later we went in to turn it on. He struggled knowing how to set it up, but eventually did and set an appt for a couple weeks later. When we came to her appt the door was locked, lights out, phone number disconnected, and a sign on the door saying his office was closed. Also, patient records would be sent to a different clinic who would take over care. That clinic never received her records, didn't know they were taking his patients, and only had one Dr training with the Vagus Nerve Stimulator. I called around and very few doctors were using it. Dr Chowdhury got money from the manufacturing company and then left patients without care. My daughter's device malfunctioned with a continuous shock of pain and there was no… one to turn it off.

He's incompetent! When he was practicing in Utah, he diagnosed me with MS without proper testing. The treatments he put me on rendered me immobile and unable to care for myself. Had he simply checked my labs, he would have seen that I only had a severe b12 deficiency. Because of his carelessness, I lost EVERYTHING. When I questioned him or tried to advocate for myself while in his office, he yelled at me and called me names. He's abusive, and shady. When he was practicing in Layton, Utah, he literally closed his office on a Friday, and left town. Patients weren't notified. His license had been in question multiple times. He bounces all over the country. He can't be trusted and he's dangerous.

Dr Chowdhury diagnosed my mil with dementia three years ago. He is very caring and patient and listens and answers questions. He has been extremely patient with the family as there are 5 kids and a few were in denial. Best Dr we could have asked for.

After years of painful migraine 24 X 7, my husband was fortunate to be seen by Dr. Chowdhury! After reviewing his file of years of painful nerve blocks and botox, he advised him that he felt the pain was coming from a small cyst on his pituitary gland and referred him to a highly skilled neurosurgeon. They did a minimally invasive approach through his nose. 2 weeks post op and the pain is down from a 6 to a 2, and it will possibly be a 0 as he heals. We are very fortunate to be in this compassionate physician's care.

I was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis by Dr. Chowdhury about 10 years ago. I was not the only one.

Next to knowing your job, in my opinion, is listening and paying attention to what the patient is saying. He is wonderful!

This provider is horrible. I have had many visits over the past year and finally decided to seek care with another physician. Provider over prescribed medications without explaining why or the benefits of the medication. I had several reactions to medications and procedures, I never received a callback on why this was happening or what I should do. He does not listen to concerns or questions and has a terrible bedside manner. He spends very little time with you in the room and makes you feel like it's inconvenient for him to speak with you!

My trips to three doctors in the neurology field failed to find a diagnosis for my failings and symtoms. Dr Chowdhury was concerned and ordered test to find the answers. He really showed he cared about my welfare. After a couple weeks of tests, he had a diagnosis. An earlier tramatic brain injury (20 yrs earlier) was cauing new symtoms. He had the knowledge to treat with medication that will control these symtoms. He took the time to explain what my prognosis was and what to expect in the future. He was kind and patient with my concerns. I would recommend this doctor to my family and any friend as he is top in the field of neurology!!

He understood what my problem is and told me what needs to be done to fix it...what more can u ask for
