Excellent Surgeon

Dr Abdeen is THE surgeon to see if you need a total knee replacement. Her cari g bedside manner combined with her expertise and attention to detail make the process far easier than expected! She uses a multimodal pain control protocol that makes it much easier to start PT immediately and to follow through with the required exercises for rehab. When I was discouraged by slow progress after my second knee replacement she reassured me that I would reach full function on my own timeline if I continued to exercise. This illustrates her ability to look at each patient as an individual and tailor her care accordingly. I also want to mention that Josh, her Physicians Assistant is also phenomenal and another big part of why the process was as smooth as possible!

Dr. Abdeen performed a total knee replacement on me about 1 year ago and I was hiking, biking and doing pretty much everything I wanted within 2 months. It healed well and Dr. Abdeen's work was exceptional. I've also lost 10 lbs over this time with all the added activity.

Worst medical Experience

Dr. Abdeen was recommended by another excellent orthopedic surgeon, also on the staff of BIDMC. She replaced my extremely painful left hip and the surgery and recovery were excellent. I was well informed about the procedure and my role in the recovery process. Dr. Abdeen gave me good advice before and after surgery. She is experienced and an excellent surgeon.

I have aggressive and erosive rheumatoid arthritis for 13 years, my two knees were seriously compromised and I could no longer walk. The last 5 years have been very difficult with limitation and a lot of pain, I no longer had any hope in my life. Dr Abdeen scheduled my first knee replacement. After surgery I obviously felt some pain but nothing compared to the pain I had before the surgery, it was mild pain and no more the pain from inflammation and bone to bone. After 3 months dr Abdeen replaced my second knee, at this time was much easier because had already a great, recovered and perfect knee to help me to recover the new replacement. Dr Abdeen brought life to my body, she brought hope, dreams, energy… “Dr Abdeen brought back my desire to live”. Every day I thank God and Dr. Abdeen for my recovery. You will be always in my heart, Dr. Abdeen.

Dr. Abdeen is a very competent surgeon and, equally important, a caring person. She replaced my left hip and did a great job. I am as good as new thanks to her skills. She listens to questions and concerns and provides answers. In addition, all of the BI support staff were fantastic.

She very good not very chatty but very straight to the point I found her to be excellent once you get use to her I’m sorry that some patients had bad experiences with her she recommended for me when I got hurt in special Olympics by my mom friend who orthopedic Nurse I think she did a great job I still have cramping in my knee I saw other doctors for fallow up to see what they say they all pretty much say it normal it never going to be 100 percent Perfect after a legment injury I don’t who help with other people medical procedures and sugeries because mine came out fine
