Dr. Barry Israel Blum, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Blum for a number of years. I have always found him to be a professional, highly qualified internist who is also caring, thorough and personable. He takes time to explain the reasons for his diagnosis and what course of action is recommended. I have always found him accessible and responsive Wait times when in his office are minimal. Altogether a first rate physician who can be recommended without reserve! BHJ.

I went in with severe back pain and in 5 minutes without even examining me he was accusing me of looking for drugs. I had been in pain for about a year and finally got the courage to go to a doctor about it. He was horrible and I felt shamed for being ill. I left the office and cried for 3 hours, it felt so abusive. I went to a back specialist and found out I had a serious problem with my back. I allways regreted not reporting him and here on this site I saw another person with the same experience

He started out being a good doctor. He even let me know that he had been an alcoholic since he was a teen. After several visits I had to see him after blowing out my knee to get a referral and something for pain and he raised his voice at me telling me that I wasn't in much pain and accusing me of trying to get drugs. He even swore he had not made a referral for a different problem and had not prescribed a med that he had called in to my pharmacy! He scared me.

Doctor Blum is no nonsense and non judgmental. Just be honest and let him do his job.

Dr Blum is no nonsense in his confrontation of the many ways to stay addicted: pills, alcohol, marihuana. He knows it all, is empathetic but accepts no excuses. If you can be his patient and want to recover, be us one of the best!

The staff is rude and uncaring. You often wait long past appointment times, once you get them. I won't be going back.

Dr. Blum is an excellent diagnostician and straightforward physician.

In addition to being an internist Dr. B is an addiction specialist. Therefore in in diagnosing he tries to find some addiction connection. A lot of my time was wasted finding none. Bedside manner is terrible. Forget patient input. He is also very arrogant. He is smart but the above mentioned flaws overshadow his intellect. If you don't have an addiction, you can find a better doc.
