Dr. Brian Robert Irwin, DO

Dr. Brian Irwin has been my doctor for almost 15 years. We have conversations weighing the best options, always including my psychiatrist and my own strategies working towards the best possible solutions. He is humble, kind and is never afraid to take out the DSM rather than throwing diagnosis’ around before continuous research and specifications. I have never trusted a physician more because he is a rarity in his field, in his willingness to be open and to continue to learn and care strongly for individual needs.

I have never been treated by a more compasshionate, knowledgable or friendly physician than Dr. Brian Irwin. He no doubt, rates right up there with the best physicians in the Mount Washington Valley. I have had my share of medical issues, and have been treated by several physicians, who could not hold a candle to Dr. Irwins medical knowledge. He has drastically improved the quality of my health, in areas where several other physicians have failed, and has never failed to directed me to the proper medical specialist, whenever needed. It is very obvious he loves his work and truly cares about the quality of care that he extends to his patients. He is one of those rare physicians, that have a very relaxed and friendly bedside manner, that makes you feel comfortable, right from the get-go. I sincerely believe the only kind of person that would have a problem with a physician of this caliber, is perhaps one who has all the answers, poor, preconceived notions of how their medical issues… should be treated, along with a self-proclaimed medical degree in the field of Google, self diagnostics. Look no further than Dr. Irwin, for the best of everything! There's no other doctor worth seeing, in my opinion!

DR. Irwin is an exceptional doctor who takes the time to listen to his patient and doesn't make you feel like he is rushing you out the door. I think that he is efficient with his time, but not pushy or trying to rush away. He always takes the time to listen to my concerns and address them accordingly.

I had been seeing Dr. Irwin for quite some time and had felt that I was in good hands. I have medical professionals in my family who also thought he was treating me appropriately, although they are out of state. However, upon telling him of severe pain symptoms and increasing limitations with ongoing clinical symptoms which I carefully documented, he raised his voice to me on several visits and told me my issues were in my head. Knowing that all of us may have a bad day, I made the difficult decision to move on after 3 attempts, as I was clearly in very difficult circumstances. I am very grateful I did, I ended up finding a caring and compassionate doctor and one that if they did not know how to help me, referred me to the appropriate specialist who could. And, even though malpractice rates have risen for those doctors who manage pain and they are dealing with tighter FDEA regulations, this doctor was upfront and compassionate regarding my chronic pain. I was diagnosed with two… herniated disks, nerve compression and nerve damage, a kidney stone which was stuck in my ureter, which required surgery, one remaining in my kidney and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Of additional note, he cannot seem to keep a qualified nurse in his office. Although we all have a starting point in life, if one does not know the answer to a question, one should ask the available medical staff. Last, but not least, I was truly saddened to see the state of my medical records which were drastically altered. Although I am not litigious, it was alarming to say the least. I was thankful that I had kept ongoing records for personal reasons and did not have to start all over again. It is my earnest hope and prayer that Dr. Irwin will return to man and professional he once use to be.

I have been going to The wonderful Dr. Irwin for almost 3 years now. I have more then 1 chronic illness, they are confusing for me & downright scarey at times, but dr. Irwin always does everything in his powers to help me. I always leave his office feel better, even if it is just the security of knowing he is helping me with this new issue. He always makes me feel like I am part of his family. He is very warm, kind & it shows that he truly cares about me & my health. I have to agree with another comment that was posted here, If Dr. Irwin was to ever leave his current office I would follow.

One of the best offices I've ever been in. They don't make you feel like a heard of cattle waiting to be fed. The staff is amazing! I bring both of my children to Dr. Irwin and they love him. He is kind, gentle, caring and really explains why he makes certain decisions then asks if you agree or have any questions. This is the only Dr. office I have ever been to that truly make you part of the decision making process. I'm so impressed with Dr. Irwin and the quality of care, that if he were to leave Tamworth Family Medicine, I would be inclined to switch offices to continue having him see my children. I would not hesitate recommending him, in fact I have several times

Even though I went to Dr Irwin after 3 visits to the Memorial Hospital for acute back pain, I feel that he treated me like I was some kind of addict because of the severe pain that I had and needed some pain meds for the pain because it was going to take at least a month to see an orthopedic doctor in the area......it seems to me that because of my problem that he should have been able to get me in asap....Would not recommend him to anyone and if asked I would give my opinion....especially since I had already been to the emergency room 3 times.
