Dr. Brian John Shiple, DO

Dr. Shiple is the best. I had multiple tears of the meniscus and behind my knee. The orthopedic doctor had recommended surgery and PT. I went to Dr. Brian Shiple for an evaluation. He treated me with PRP injections. It was a little painful (also, I'm a wimp) but a little laughing gas and one treatment later, I was able to take the planned Mediterranean cruise several weeks later. I have been pain free for 3 years now! Appreciate him a lot.

Since Dr. Shiple is highly trained in the use of ultrasound, he was able to diagnose muscle damage that my previous prolotherapists had missed. He told me that my Obliquus Capitis Inferior, Rhomboids, Multifidus, Abductor Hallucis Brevis, and Flexor Digitorum Brevis were all torn. Though, it’s important to note, there was also probably a lot of damage that the ultrasound was not able to pick up on. However, even more important than telling me what was damaged, he told me that he felt with the degree of problems I was presenting with, I probably had underlying issues that needed to be dealt with. On top of serious tissue damage, I also had allergic-like reactions to many foods and substances, nausea, dry eyes, serious dysmenorrhea, and a bunch of other symptoms that I now know to be associated with MCAS. Unfortunately, my MCAS specialist told me that surgery and stress events can raise the baseline level of MCAS. After the event has passed, you often return to a lower baseline level,… but you rarely recede all the way back to the original level before the event happened. Unfortunately, I think PRP treatments can raise the baseline level of MCAS, and people that have a high baseline level of MCAS are typically poor wound and tissue healers. Some people theorize that perhaps if you take medicine to stabilize your mast cells while doing PRP treatments that you’re less likely to raise your baseline level. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but if I was ever to do PRP again, I would definitely be on medicine for MCAS before getting those injections done. I believe Dr. Shiple would be the kind of doctor that would be willing to work with my MCAS specialist to figure out the best treatment plan for a complicated patient such as myself.

A series of doctors looked at my hip all with varied ideas. Dr Shiple ultrasounded my hip and did a prp treatment. Within in 3 days I went from limping to walking again. Within 6 weeks I was full throttle racing my bike again. I had to come back because he was so good to get my knee done when the season was over. THANK YOU SO MUCH DR SHIPLE FOR HELPING ME WHEN NO ONE ELSE COULD!!!

I had spent tens of thousands of dollars on other prolotherapy doctors who only made my condition worse until I saw Dr. Shiple. I was at the point where I could not walk or work or participate in life in anyway. I was on disability and thought I would be for the rest of my life. He turned my condition around 100% and I am no longer disabled and also pain free. I would recommend him highly and have to several people.

He injected a nerve in my foot and clearly said that wasn't supposed to happen. My husband and I heard it. He never apologized or offered reduced price follow up care for pain management which I would not have had to do if he hadn't been trying to be a cowboy.

This doctor was extremely unprofessional and rude not only to me but his staff. He complained about the length of the appointment time four times to me and yet the whole appointment was less than what was scheduled! He also put down all other competitive doctors and told bad stories about them. He also refused to answer any of my questions. I all of our years have we never met such a man or doctor with such vicious tendencies. We highly recommend that you find another doctor. If he is this way prior to treatment imagine how he would be post procedures!

Arrogant, rude office staff, especially the front desk receptionist. Did not return phone calls with questions, Arrogant bedside manner. Really long wait times, to schedule an apt and to see the doctor. Yet when I was there waiting for well over an hour and a half, someone came in and asked to be seen and the receptionist sent him right back!?? I heard the whole conversation as the waiting room is small. Unprofessional, at best.

Dr seems technically good but has an unresponsive bedside manner and is , in my opinion , somewhat unprofessional. Without going into detail, he made a mistake during a procedure and wouldn't go into detail about it when questioned or suggest any treatment for it other than repeat visits to his office. I finally went elsewhere and got the answers I needed to make a decision, which was go to another dr who does prolotherapy.

Dr Shiple was very helpful in defining exactly what was wrong with my son's elbow. We had seen 2 other doctors that immediately suggested surgery. After an ultrasound exam we agreed that an alternative approach was very feasible. This approach significantly reduced the downtime in my son's activities. The staff worked around our schedule to accommodate us with very short notice. He was informative and patient with our questions. I would easily recommend his services in the future.

Dr. Shiple is by far the most compassionate doctor I have ever had contact with. He is incredibly smart and diagnosically he goes a step above and beyond most doctors. If they were all this smart and caring, we would need a lot less of the ego maniacs out there with medical degrees. Dr. Shiple's goal is to give you quality to your every day not thicken his wallet. He truly cares first and foremost about his patients!
