Dr. Hietanen joined TLC Pediatrics in August 2005. He received his undergraduate degree from Canisius College and then went on to medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. While in medical school, he founded the NYCOM Pediatric Club and upon graduation received the award for excellence in pediatrics. Dr. Hietanen did his pediatric residency at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, where he was consistently recognized as one of the top residents in the program. He is board certified and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Hietanen takes a special interest in the care of asthma and allergies, the education of new parents, as well as pediatric physical fitness. He feels very privileged to have been voted as a \"Favorite Doc\" by readers of Hudson Valley Parent magazine each year since 2012. In his free time, he is involved with teaching medical students at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown, NY. He enjoys outdoor activities as well …as charity work, and has raised several thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer related causes over the past few years.

Dr. H came HIGHLY suggested from a friend. We interviewed him prior, and we love him as a doctor. Our daughter is 11 months now....I always go in with a huge list and he never rushes me out. He takes his time, is very gentle with her, and he is exactly what you'd hope for in a pediatrician.

Dr Hietanen is always very caring and thorough with my daughter. He never makes you wait long, but when you have questions or concerns, he always takes the time to put your mind at ease. I would recommend Dr. Hietanen to anyone looking for someone that cares for their child as if they were his own!

Dr. Heitanen, Is an amazing doctor. He has taken exellent care of all four of my children and seems to care about their wellbeing. Dr. Heitanen has a wonderful bedside manner and spends the time he needs to awnser all your questions without feeling rushed.

Dr. Hietanen is an excellent pediatrician. He has been caring for both of my children for the past 3 years. My son has run into some medical snafus and Dr. Hietanen has been great. He is thoughtful during visits, listening and asking questions before forming an opinion. It is clear that he has thought about our case before walking into the patient room. He follows up regulary after hospital stays. He also thinks outside-of-the-box on other possibilities we could be looking at or alternative treatments. He is a very kind person to talk to and takes his job very seriously. The staff at TLC pediatrics is also always very kind and friendly (even when I am sometimes not!)
