I would give 0 stars but that’s not an option the doctor is horrible

My father saw Dr. Buchanan who said that his kidney stones were too big for shockwave treatment and needed immediate surgery. Immediately after surgery, there were complications. Dr. Buchanan did come to his room to see the issues and seemed upset about these issues. Also, every time the LGMC staff attempted catheter removal, healing did not occur, and the pain was tremendous for my father, then they had to keep re-inserting the catheter, and my father experienced even more pain. This happened several times and extended my father's hospital stay. When we tried to call Dr. Buchanan to ask questions, he did not return our calls. Never heard from him again despite needing his advice. Another person I know very well went to see him for his kidney stones. Again, Dr. Buchanan only recommended surgery on each kidney, one surgery at a time, for the two stones. Again, he advised against the shockwave lithotripsy saying it would not work for such large stones (11 mm. and 2 cm.). Guess… Dr. Buchanan only recommends SWL treatment for small stones (which doesn't make sense nor does it follow procedures recommended for stones up to 2 cm.)! Will never recommend him to anyone. Apparently, he prefers more invasive procedures. It's important people know these things about his practice especially when there are other minimally invasive methods to treat kidney stones. We would have appreciated knowing this beforehand.

So unprofessional and uncaring

I have to give him a five. He told me that the scope procedure would not hurt me, as other Drs. had. He was right! He then took out a stone that was huge and did a TURP . It was a very good experience..

Rude and condescending.

If you are looking for a smiling face or care that feels personal, look elsewhere. His bedside manners and manner durring office visits are acceptable at best. If only he would smile and give people the time of day.

I've Dr. Buchanan for about 8 years now. I have had trouble with kidney stones. He has the best bedside manner and truly cares about his patients. I drive 2.5 hours one way just to see him. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Courteous staff, prompt appointment the same day I called. I had a bad kidney stone and Dr Buchanan scheduled me for the procedure the next day. After the procedure he called to check on me himself. Recovered well.

Though we did see Dr. Buchanan's PA before the surgery, we found her to be very professional and helpful. Dr. Buchanan is very personable and did a great job with surgery. He returned my call today when I had a concern. HE...not his PA. I appreciated that. We have a urologist in FW but will use Dr. Buchanan right here in Granbury from now on.

USMD participating urologist practicing in Granbury (Hood County) Texas. You only see the Dr. if you are a new patient. Subsequent visits are with the PA who is condescending, cold, and possesses the bedside manner of a rock. IF you require a procedure, indeed Dr. Buchanan does the procedure, however, I had a problem with Dr. Buchanan refusing to see me PRIOR to the scheduled procedure so that I could ask HIM DIRECTLY questions, etc. I changed doctors, very happy with new urologist.
