I have a history of being abused (by a past partner). I am not the only person out there that has been. So, why did all of my symptoms get written off as being a result of abuse? What I have HAS to have a genetic component. My mother was not abused in any way and our symptoms mirror one another. I have been suffering for 17 years. My primary doctor referred me here. I have lost the ability to walk in the past, my eye sight will go blurry or double vision, I am numb on the entire left side of my body, and I am having confusion and difficulty speaking and hearing. I successfully completed counseling for my past abuse and I have worked past it I was written off as being a faker and was offered no help at all from this doctor. He even suggested that my "woman" parts are causing this to happen. This isn't the middle ages anymore. Do yourself a favor, stay away from this office if you are trying to get some answers for your problems. They acted bothered that I wrote a huge list of symptoms I've been experiencing for 17 years. All of this matters to me and it should matter to a doctor. I deserve respect and a little bit of empathy for all I am experiencing. I am currently in school because I want to have a career and be able to support myself. I've lost many jobs because of my problems and now that my memory and hearing is going, I'm afraid that my school career will be ended as well.
