Dr. Culley C Carson III, MD

Dr. Carson is now retired. Unfortunately before he retired, I signed a surgical consent for him to perform surgery on me. I did so because he was supposedly the tops in his field for my disorder. He allowed the resident to perform the surgery and what a mess. I am going to have to have the entire procedure redone somewhere else. I had problems after surgery and could get no one to return my calls. I was completely on my own. I encourage anyone considering surgery from a UNC physician in any specialty, to understand that the staff physician may not perform the surgery. There is a good chance that a resident with very little experience will perform your surgery even thought the consent for surgery names your experienced surgeon as the surgeon. If you have problems after surgery, you are on your own. When I returned for my postoperative visit and problems were found, they did not want to see me again. Beware of the UNC Dept of Urology.

Dr Carson has no bedside manner. I had a TURP performed not by him as expected but by his surgical resident and I have urinary incontinence for life. He failed to make himself aware of my medical history. I met him 5 weeks after the surgery ( he did not have the courtesy to even introduce himself the day of the surgery). I chose him because of his credentials and now I am trapped with incontinence. He did not come to my room the entire time I was in the hospital following the surgery. I naturally have no use for Dr. Carson.
