Dr. Curry Lee Koening, MD

He is a life saver!

Dr. Koening is on time, seems to cover the bases, makes suggestions and then never follows through. It is up to the patient to find out from their Internist what might really be going on because Dr. Koening drops the ball. Only the continual prompting of the patient makes things happen. Frankly the entire Rheumatology Department at the U leaves much to be desired. I can tell from my other U of U physicians that they are not happy with my rheumatologist. Silence speaks volumes. I believe Dr.Koening would make a decent Internist, but (an important conjunction), that's it.

Dr. Koening is a thinker. He is an excellent physician as well as and excellent investigator. Dr. Koening is kind, compassionate, and brilliant. While he has many patients, he doesn't appear to be overwhelmed. He knows his stuff!

Dr K is extremely knowledgeable regarding vasculitis. He has given me excellent care over the last two years and goes the extra mile to ensure I stay as healthy as possible. He doesn't sugar coat the reality of your condition and is honest. Every time I have mentioned news articles or other clinical studies relating to my disease he is already aware and open to discuss. His staff is also professional and caring. My only tiny concerns relates to wait time in the outpatient lab at the hospital.

Dr. Koening is patient and wonderful about taking time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. He's taught me so much and I highly value his expertise. I've heard my other dotors speak of him in the highest regard and some have told me I'm fortunate that he was able to step into my case when when they consulted with him.
