Dr. Daniel Rodriguez Garza, MD

I had a couple of problems with him. First of all, he prescribed a test and my insurance needed to contact him and ask a few questions about it but he didn't follow up on that and I'm still in trouble since my insurance cannot pay unless my doctor contacts them. Also, once he overcharged me and didn't pay me back. He said he will keep my money for future sessions. When he increased the dosage of my medication I experienced terrible side effects but I didn't get a timely reply to my calls and had to go to an urgent care. It doesn't seem that he cares about his patients.

Superb best quality psychiatric services in all of Houston! Always on time, well prepared, sensitive, and gentle with inquiries. Highly recommended for any adult suffering from social phobia, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD or OCD. Both my wife and I have been seeing him for years now for chronic symptoms. He has driven us both hope and improvement. Dr. Garza literally changed our lives for the better!!!

I've been going to MSW's and MD's to treat my ADHD, Anxiety and Depression for more than 20 years, and Dr. Garza is the only MD that spends time talking to me, hearing what's happening in my life, determining if my medications are working and adjusting as needed. I have had to email at night and over the weekends for refills or paperwork and I can't believe how responsive and nice he is about helping and not charging me. I've been seeing him for over 5 years for medication management, but he provides much more than a prescription. I highly recommend him and am astonished that the last review I read was negative. Maybe that was a fluke or the patient is not on the right medication. Sally

He’s nice on the surface, but a bit patronizing. I’ve spent about $800 with him and all he has done is prescribe one antidepressant, no dosage adjustments. That’s highway robbery. He ordered me to have a bunch of blood work done. I missed an appointment due to being sick, and he wasn’t able to reschedule me for another month. You’re telling me not a single patient has cancelled an appointment? Highly unlikely. It’s unprofessional considering I expressed a need to see him ASAP. Decided to wait it out to see what he had to say about my MTHFR genes my blood work showed. I go in and he’s like “I never got your results”......does he even look back on his clients paperwork?! Maybe let me know that so I’m not wasting time and money....?Unbelievable that he’d be so unprepared for an appointment I’ve been waiting on for 2 months. Just says “we can look at next time.” Money hungry and not discreet about it. So anyway, I voice a need for ADD treatment and he simply tells me to go get tested… somewhere (probably gets some sort of commission for referrals). I’ve been diagnosed ADD for over 10 years but he doesn’t even ask. He does the bare minimum and acts like he’s the best of the best. Never remembers anything about me. And lastly, I asked for a letter from him to express that I am doing well and stable. All he wrote was that I was experiencing mood disturbances and have achieved “mild improvement”. Thanks for the letter that basically sends the opposite message of what I was going for. Considering I was crying daily and am now emotionally stable, I don’t consider that “mild”. Looked up his astrological chart and one of his main character traits was “self-unaware”. Can’t say I disagree with that. I hope he reads this review. I won’t be returning. How does he have such a high score on here?!

Dr Garza was always very professional and calm and soothing. He remembered me and really got to know me over the 2 years I was treated by him. It's true he is not always the most prompt. He doesn't have staff at all, so he manages all the scheduling and payment and prescription refills and everything himself, so it's kind of understandable. I did have an issue where I forgot to refill a prescription until the last minute but I didn't have any refills left. But after an emergency call and text he did get the prescription refill in that night right before the CVS closed, so I ended up being okay. (I was travelling away for work early the next morning too, to Canada, so it was kind of an urgent evening). Anyhow, if you want someone who cares and is professional and really dang smart, then go to Dr Garza. But don't be as irresponsible as I was in monitoring my prescriptions/ refills.

He wrote me a prescription and never told me that i had 21 days to get it filled. He thinks he did but im certain he didnt considering how many patients he goes through how would he even remember who he told what to. He doesnt even remember my name or what he had talked about in our sessions without having to look it up in one of his files. Thats important info that i would have remembered if i knew. Anyway he gave me a script and it expired so i called him to try and see what i could do and with no surprise ofcourse he never answers his phone.. i left him a voicemail and he calls back couple days later saying all i have to do is bring in the expired script and he will write a new one. So this is considered medication that he already prescribed for me from the previous session. After i tell him about the prescription i also told him to cancel my next meeting since he wants me to go see a blood doctor which i havent had the time to do since i have to work full time managing a store and… also going to school. He took my blood pressure and told me it was normal and i was like,"really? I was told i have high blood pressure" so then he was like,"hmmm, go see a blood doctor" so technically he didnt diagnose me properly but instead i diagnosed myself. But once heheard that i havent gone yet he immediately tells me that he willnot prescribe my medication that once again he had already wrote me a prescription for.. thats called indian giving.. he just wants your money and thats it. He loves when u miss a session u scheduled for.. very rude..

Dr. Garza is both professional and caring. I value his expertise and I value his professional opinion regarding my situation. What I find most uplifting about my sessions w/Dr. G is that he does not rush me - indeed, he cares about my wellfare and takes time to address all aspects of my mental health!

GREAT and FANTASTIC doctor who listens and cares. He is effective and takes into account your experiences with the medication, both past and present. He has effectively and precisely treated my bipolar disorder. Since he is in private practice, you don't have to worry about long waits or rude office staff. It's just him and he manages his practice very well. If you're looking for a doctor that can truly help you get stable, this is the doctor you HAVE to see!

I don't know what doctor some of the other raters are talking about. In the years Dr. Garza has been treating me, he has never been anything but professional and focused on my mental-health improvement. He's moved into new quarters in the past year or so, and his office operation runs very smoothly and the setting is more sophisticated and professional.BTW -- Delete the racist, homophobic rant near the end of this string.
