Dr. David Anthony Charles, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Charles's for 5 years and am leaving the practice after many bumps in the road over the years. I was originally referred to Dr. Charles by a friend who has since left the practice, as well. Professionally, I have been in practice development and medical marketing for 17 years, so I am very well versed the ins and outs of patient retention. To be fair, I'll give you the pros and cons. The one thing that I must admit is a pro and the reason I have personally referred friends to the practice is that Dr. Charles listens and treats accordingly without making you jump through a million hoops. That is why I have remained his patient despite several cons. Staffing has never been top tier, but with recent turnover, it has absolutely plummeted. I was absolutely aghast at the unprofessional demeanor in which a new staff member treated me last week. I have never been spoken to so rudely in a professional setting before. The reason for that call is another con...… Medication management is terrible there. They do not alert you when you need a visit in order to refill, which has put me in a bad position several times with him going on vacation or coming up on a holiday weekend. The proper thing to do would be to dispense the amount of medication needed to get you through until they can see you instead of leaving you high and dry until then; but instead the staff aggressively and rudely pops off, blames their predecessors who they tell you have been fired, and speak over you as you try to suggest that. If the doctor is away, there is no one available to update your prescription... there should be a PA or NP or on-call office to handle things in the doctor's absence. One time when I was in this situation, when Dr. Charles returned from vacation and I had a televisit, he didn't even come on screen for the televisit. Another example of poor medication management, I also had to change medications and follow-up televisits for that were over $1200 out of pocket for that. Despite the one pro of staying at this practice as long as I have, as a practice development director, I can look at it objectively and easily say that the fish stinks from the head down in this practice. I've read through some of the other negative reviews and can fully relate. I'm glad for others who have had a positive experience, but that has not been mine, so I would suggest looking elsewhere for a primary care physician. There are others out there who are easy to talk to and run a professional practice.

I reached out to Dr. Charles because I was extremely concerned about the “no where near informative” explanation I received from another doctor pertaining to my blood test results. Not only did Dr. Charles calmly and patiently listen to me take him through my entire experience and discussion with the other doctor, it was apparent that Dr. Charles captured details I shared that he later linked to my blood test results. After my discussion with Dr. Charles, I totally understood my blood test results and was crystal clear about appropriate next steps that I should take. I am extremely grateful that there are still doctors like Dr. Charles in our world who take the time to listen “first” and partner with their clients to ensure that their clients have an informative and pleasant healthcare experience.

I went to this Doctor because my life long Dr. is no longer practicing. They were very friendly and Dr. was nice. I have left several messages to get results of my blood work and I haven't talked to a human since my visit. When I went for my visit I was given cards and told call me call me anytime re anything. Still no work.

reception staff is rude, hanging up the phone, not returning the calls, failing promises made, forgetting provide referrals. the doc is ok.

Dr Charles has wonderul bedside manners . I liked him and staff so much i bought my mother. She too was completly satisfied . I'll be seeing him soon ..... check up time

I HAVE BEEN WITH DR. CHARLES FOR MANY YEARS NOW AND AM VERY COMFORTABLE WITH HAVING HIM AS MY DOCTOR

Billing is a mess. You may have a zero balance but they will keep calling you. If he's not in your out of luck be ause he's the only Dr in the practice. I've happily moved on to another.
