Dr. David D. Markowitz

Dr. David Markowitz gives his extremely positive attitude to medicine than meets the eye or any other medical professional out there. I really enjoy Dr. Markowitz who is able to show all his patients what it means to embrace vulnerability and what it means to do so. He is a one in a million gastroentrologist. Dr. Markowitz will always talk to his patients and the patient like myself will have such a good discussion about the testings, diagnoses, and even the vital checks, that patients will forget they are with a doctor like him. In essence, the patient like myself will instantly be very relaxed no matter what Neurotribe they are like as a Neurotypical people or any neurodivergences outside the common Neurotribe in our society. Every gastroenterologist should look up to Dr. Markowitz at Columbia Hospital in NYC, who knows what it's like and what it takes to be a doctor. He knows how to make every patient relaxed by keeping serious moments open to embracing vulnerability and strength.

I started seeing Dr Markowitz when I was 16 years old (I am 46 years old now). Unfortunately, his practice does not accept my insurance, but I will always consider Dr Markowitz to be my doctor. Before one of my colonoscopies with him, I joked, "I hope its ok, I didn't do any prep and I had a big breakfast." The look on his face was hysterical! He is truly the best gastro guy in NYC.

Personifies best practices, treats you as a person, not a patient. Listens and does not prejudge. Makes you comfortable and secure.

He has his talent on check.

Doctor Markowitz is by far my favorite doctor - I've been his patient for probably 15 years, for 2 colonoscopies and a few other unpleasant tests. He's smart, kind, funny, and I trust him. I had a horrible experience with a different gastroenterologist (one it turns out who was part of the practice involved with Joan Rivers death...). Unlike the other doctor, I never felt judged for my high energy and what can be anxiety around doctors .... instead he sets me at ease and it is always a pleasure to have an office visit regardless of what is wrong with me! Yes, he believes in the science behind his diagnosis, and I sometimes challenge aspects of that, but he is willing to listen and to discuss. I believe finding good doctors is essential and I never settle if I don't care for a doctor for whatever the reason.... I wish all doctors could be like Dr. Markowitz.

You work for the greatest MD and it means so much that you both are always there to help and lift the burden by your genuine caring. An absolutist when it comes to evidence. If he can't prove you have something, you don't have it. Does not accept the diagnosis of laryngopharyngeal reflux disease.
