Dr. G is a different type of doctor. If you need someone who will tell you his honest opinion and provide you with thorough guidance - this doctor is for you. He will not “sugar coat” anything and wants you to know your true status. If you seek a doctor who will say everything’s okay just to make you feel better - he is not the doctor for you.

Been his patient for about 17 years, he did cataract surgery on both my eyes. The last time i saw him ,first had to go through three other techs. I refused the vision test as my ins does not pay the extra $50 for it and at the time of my surgery Gerstenfeldtold me my vision would never change. they called me into a room to take a picture of my eye. finallysaw him for 2 seconds , he was very abrupt and in a hurry. at the desk was told i had to pay my company of $50. and another $50. for he eye picture. never new about the second charge. when i said send me a bill , they said that would cost $10. more!!!!!!!!. said it was my ins that added the $10. Called mins , they said no way its drs practice. Im done, will never go back.

the worst. I went in as an emergency. waited til the end of the day. I swear I think I saw him for less than 2 minutes! I couldn't even ask him a question. he would cut me right off. horrible. to be honest, there are no good doctors in any field on staten island. you have to go to Manhattan. they are horrible doctors on staten island starting from primaries to specialists.anyway, don't go to this doctor. no bedside manner at all. what a beaut. "hurry up I have to go home. you should have had your emergency in the morning!"

Even though the wait in the office is a bit much and the staff is just okay, he is a good doctor

Son Dr. Gerstendfeld is not like his father. His father was friendly and helpful. He just rushes me out the door and doesn't even allow me to ask questions. I won't be going back.
