Dr. David Irvine Shadowen, MD

Although he may be a good person he was extremely rude. I figure if it's my health we are discussing I should have a right to have questions answered. He took it as a challenge to prove his point rather than explain what was happening with my health. I want a doctor that will care and explain. I don't need attitude. Needless to say I'm looking elsewhere.

I had bloodwork done and Dr. Shadowen's staff were to call me with results, which they did; however, the results were all within normal ranges. The real problem arose when I had the audacity to ask, "If the results were within normal ranges why do I still have symptoms?" I'm a very proactive person. It's my health. Don't I have a right to be able to discuss it with my physician? I thought that was a reasonable question. Apparently he didn't because his entire demeanor changed. The pervasive attitude was rude, curt, and definitely not one of a physician that cared about the health of his patient. I've never had an experience like that with a professional and hope to never again.

Dr. Shadowen is one of the most through and thoughtful doctors I have ever met. He has treated me for an underactive thyroid for the past several years and I wouldn't think of changing doctors. He is always prompt and still manages to spend time explaining any questions I have about my medical condition. His staff is courteous and helpful and always make sure I get any test results promptly.

Dr. Shadowen is a wonderful doctor, if you can get past his mullet. His personality is a bit different, but, he knows his endocrine system like the back of his hand. He is extremely smart and spent a whole lot of time with me, at least two hours. Being young with severe thyroid problems, I was able to see him within a 2 weeks, versus a month or more wait. His staff always returned phone calls promptly, and if I had any questions they were always willing to help! He even got me in to see another specialist within a week, versus an average of a month wait also. All in all, I wouldn't see anyone else for my endocrine troubles. He is excellent!

Do not expect privacy, as office staff speaks to others at Graves Gilbert Clinic about patients.
