Dr. David Todd Rudman, MD

Thank you for your reply to my negative review. I wish that I could call you to discuss as you suggested I do. As I told you after I received my correct diagnosis, a pharyngectomy was required to remove the tumor. I can no longer speak or make phone calls. Awareness about patients is very important when making suggestions.

If you are looking for an ENT for anything more serious that a stopped up nose, I urge you to seek out an ENT at KUMC or St Luke’s. After almost two years of repeated appointments with Dr Rudman for throat pain I was assured that nothing was wrong. The pain was so bad that I could not swallow solid food. Afyer 18 months he referred me to their pain clinic without even the benefit of PET scan. I immediately joined St Luke’s health system and had a appointment with one of their ENT’s 3 months later. He got me in with their cancer ENT two days later. The next day I had a biopsy and was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer. This was later confirmed with a PET scan and a second opinion at KUMC. I understand this is my fault for continuing with the appointments without improvement .I would like to save anyone from going through what I went through.

Rudman was recommended to me because I had saliva duct stones. He said the gland needed to be removed so I agreed. He completely botched the surgery. Two months later, I had a severe infection. He immediately put me in the hospital and did another surgery (while I was very infected). It would not heal. Drainage, gross odor, pain. Months later I went to another ENT who did outpatient surgery to clean up Rudman's botching. I have not felt good since the first operation and today, over 3 years later, I am still getting infections and small particles of stone matter are having to work their way out of my neck either via the wound or through my inner jaw. People, all I can say is beware. I wish I had never met Rudman and because Kansas had strict law regarding malpractice, no attorney wanted to take my case. I will most likely have to put up this the remainder of my life.

I had swollen lymph nodes that were so painful I had to go to an ER. They could not say for sure what was wrong, but they gave me an antibiotic and told me to follow up with my primary care. She was on vacation, but they referred me to Dr. Rudman. When I checked in, I was given a sheet of paper to sign acknowledging that he might do certain procedures for which there would be an extra charge. After the nurse took me back to a room, she said he would probably want to stick a tube down my throat. I said I didn't want any tube or any other procedure. Dr. Rudman came in and, without physically examining me at all, told me I had an infected spit gland. He must think I'm too stupid to know what a salivary glad is. He never looked at the ER report; he had made up his mind up about what was wrong before he stepped foot in the office. He finally looked in both ears, up my nose and in my mouth, but continued to adhere to his infected spit gland theory. I'm quite sure the doctors in the… ER can tell a lymph node from a salivary gland. He said ER doctors know a little about a lot, but he is a specialist and knows a lot about one thing. I had had it by then, and as he was telling me that if I wanted to hear his opinion, I said, "I don't" and walked out. He's a quack, and his only concern is to make as much money as possible off his patients by running unnecessary tests.

From septum surgery on my son to my daughter's tonsil's removal to sinus issues with me personally, Dr. Rudman has been excellent; Professional, thorough, available... and a wonderful staff.

Fixed my issue. Thoroughly discussed what was done in surgery and why it was needed with my husband . Called me personally the evening of surgery to check on me.

Do not go to this office for any consultation for any sinus procedure. They bill your insurance to use that scope to look in your nose and they call it a "procedure". In turn you end up with a bill against your deductible. Consultation cost me nearly $300 with excellent blue Cross coverage - imagine what it will cost you.

I can finally breathe through my nose. Recovery was unpleasant for nearly a week and I couldn't go back to work for four days, but the operation was worth it for me. Sleeping is better since I no longer breathe through my mouth.
