BULL IN A CHINA SHOP We got off to a bad start. Dr. McGinn's Medical Assistant used a blood pressure monitor that didn't fit large size arms and the reading was very high. This made me very uncomfortable because it is so important to me that my blood pressure is controlled, and I have been working with a cardiologist and taking my medications faithfully. My readings taken daily at home, are now normal and my blood pressure has been under control. The fact that Dr. McGinn's blood pressure monitor was not working properly was confirmed to me by the Medical Assistant, herself. She commented to me that this blood pressure cuff was too small, and that they have problems with it often. So she tried again, taking my blood pressure manually, this time it was better, but still high. I expressed to the Medical Assistant that I have "white coat hypertension," that I am always nervous at first and that maybe we can take it again after I relax. The Medical Assistant agreed, and said that it… is a common condition. She was very sympathetic. But Dr. McGinn never bothered to have my blood pressure retaken. She never asked me about the blood pressure readings I brought with me from home that show the readings are normal. I think Dr. McGinn meant well, but she definitely lacked empathy. To my dismay, when I went online to look at my health records from our visit, this doctor had diagnosed me with "denial" and "non-compliance", and wrote that I "got agitated and was not interested in discussing my weight, exercise or my own health in general." (I am paraphrasing.) How absurd! Who goes to a doctor and doesn't want to discuss their health? It was her Bull in a China Shop style that put me off. It was a false general statement to put in my record. I never got the chance to tell her that I have lost 25 lbs in the past 3 months and plan on losing 50 more. With the wrong blood pressure readings, we were off to a one-sided, very uncomfortable start. I never got the chance to tell her that I am starting an exercise program; that I bought an Apple Watch and downloaded all the Heart apps and Exercise apps I could find; that I bought a digital scale and am weighing myself everyday as directed by my cardiologist; that I bought a medical grade blood pressure monitor to use at home; and that I am now looking for an exercise bike or treadmill. Her online notes reflect one lie after another. ---- Dr. McGinn is a closed-minded, Bull in a China shop doctor. Many will have the opposite experience. That's life. We're all different. I will not be going back. And now I have to figure out how to have her false statements removed from my online record, if it is even possible. Disaster.

One of the worst

While working at Salem VA hospital she discontinued meds on patients and refused refills for patients she never seen. She has so many complaints on file that the clinical stall makes jokes about her. But Its no laughing matter about the damage she has done to the Vets care. Thank God they got rid of her.

Dr. Mcginn takes her time , gets to know the patient as a whole, and then moves forward with recommendations on best approach to health issue. A quality that is difficult to find in this time frame of mass production in health care industry.

I would gladly recommend Dr. McGinn to others as a Primary Care Physician.

The change in physicians has been remarkable for me. Dr Mcginn took a great amount of time to figure things out and in a unlaying process got me on a great path towards improved health. Each visit building off the last. I have nothing but good things to say. I highly recommend her.

Dr McGinn is very professional and helpful with all concerns! I would def recommend her to anyone!!
