Dr. Dennis Joseph Slamon, MD

My mother checked into Santa Monica UCLA Hospital because she had developed a lung infection and kidney infection and, unfortunately, this guy was her doctor. He is an arrogant, rude person and I learned nothing about my mother's condition from him. I had to obtain information about my mother's condition from other doctors who worked there. They gave my mother antibiotics via IV and lots of fluids, which caused her arms and legs to become extremely swollen. Even though she weighed about 90 pounds, she now had the arms and legs of a sumo wrestler. Although my mother was feeling very weak and extremely ill and was swollen all over and she was having trouble breathing, this guy had her discharged!!! About 2 weeks later, my mother had to check into the hospital again since she was very ill, and she was experiencing trouble breathing. They told her that she had fluids in her lungs. Duh!! The way they had previously discharged her with a hugely swollen body and with trouble breathing,… that was a no brainer. They said they were now going to give her diuretics to help get her rid of the fluids and swelling. Ah duh!!! This is something they could have done on her last stay there but this doctor decided not to and had her discharged. While at the hospital, they soon gave her pneumonia and now she not only had fluids in her lungs but also an infection. She passed away a few days later from respiratory failure. Had this doctor performed his duty and shown some care and concern for my mother, she would be alive today. Please, please, please, if you care for your loved ones, keep them away from this guy.

I wsn't very happy scheduling my appointment the location looks good but way too busy for me

I met this doctor only one time to get a second opinion regarding my diagnosis. He was very abrupt with me and appeared false in compassion for my situation. I attempted to ask several questions regarding medications and my disease and this seemed to only make him further agitated. I do not recommend him at all.
