Board-certified pediatrician Elsa Fernandez, MD, FAAP, has served patients for over 30 years and brings expert care to Newport Children’s Medical Group.

Dr. Fernandez serves children of all ages with a wide range of pediatric needs at the Irvine, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach, California, locations. 

Dr. Fernandez received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before completing her residency at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). As a professor of pediatrics at UCI, Dr. Fernandez is proud to have taught a number of doctors and medical students. For the last 15 years, she has also served on the faculty at the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and the University of California Irvine (UCI). 

At Newport Children’s Medical Group, Dr. Fernandez aims for long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families. She offers preventive primary pediatric care, as well as treatment plans for more chronic conditions like diabetes, obesity, development issues, and pediatric disorders. 

Dr. Fernandez’s peers honored her for serving her community for years with the Best Doctors in America award, and the Circle of Care Award by her community in Orange County, California. Dr. Fernandez is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She enjoys traveling and ballroom dancing, and she is fluent in Spanish.
