Dr. Fareeha B Sattar, DO

I had an appointment at the Columbia Health Center to meet with a gynecologist. I was assigned to Dr. Fareeha B Sattar. From the very beginning, she was very rude and made me feel like I was a bother to her. I decided to see a gynecologist because of an intimate issue of great concern to me, but ended up just asking for a refill for my contraception pill because I did not feel comfortable enough to bring up the topic. Also, I am an international student and do understand English very well, but it sometimes takes me a little longer to understand and react if someone speaks really quickly in a jarogn I'm not familiar with, like the medical one. The way she spoke to me was infantilizing and made me feel stupid. In a job like this one should pay heed to the emotional state of an interlocutor and at least treat clients in a way that makes them comfortable enough to bring up their concerns and troubles. I left this appointment feeling puzzled and sorrowful, and I immediately scheduled an… appointment with another doctor.
